THIS CAR WAS PART OF A CUSTOMER SERVICE ARRANGEMENT WORKED OUT WITH NHTSA BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED FOR COST OF REPLACEMENT . THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. I FEEL THE PART SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITHOUT ANY CHARGE SINCE OTHER VEHICLES IN THIS CLASS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. DESPITE THE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION, WE MANAGED TO MANEUVER THE CAR OFF THE ROAD TO SAFETY. WARNING LIGHT (TRIANGLE WITH EXCLAMATION POINT) AND WARNING MESSAGE "STOP SAFELY NOW". THE CAR COMPUTER KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM, WHY DOESN'T FORD? THEY CONDUCTED A "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM" FOR MILLIONS OF ESCAPE AND MARINER OWNERS FOR THIS VERY ISSUE - THROTTLE BODY DEFECT - BUT NOT HYBRIDS. WHY NOT? IT COST US $300 AND NEARLY A MULTI-CAR ACCIDENT. FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR MANUFACTURERS DEFECTS IN ALL CARS, NOT JUST SOME. PUTTING FAMILIES IN HARM'S WAY BECAUSE FORD DOESN'T HAVE THE INTEGRITY TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR VEHICLE ISSUES IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. AND SYRE WAS NOT FUN TO DRIVE, BUT UNLESS IT STAYED OFF THERE WAS NOT MUCH THEY COULD DO AT FORD TO FINE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. IT WENT OFF AND STAYED OFF AND THEN FORD FIXED IT, REPLACED THE ABS MODULE IT HAS BEEN O.K. SINCE THEN. I DID NOT LIKE THE PRICE OF THE REPAIR AT $1933.03. I DO NOT THINK A WOMEN WOULD BE ABLE TO STOP HER CAR IF THIS HAPPEN TO HER WHILE DRIVING YOU NEED TOO MUCH PUSH ON THE BRAKE TO STOP EVEN WHEN GOING SLOW, AND IF GOING THE SPEED POSTED TWO FEET MAYBE*SMCH
