POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DIFFERENTIAL UNIT
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2024 GLC 300 4MATIC, and S 580 4MATIC vehicles. The bolts that secure the rear axle differential to the rear axle carrier may come loose, which can result in a separation of the drive shaft from the rear axle differential.
While driving my 2024 Mercedes-Benz S580, I have experienced multiple serious safety issues affecting both the power train and the wheels/tires. 1.Power Train / Transmission Failure: On two separate occasions at freeway speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost all power and came to a complete stop in the middle of the lane. I could not accelerate, steer to safety, or coast to the shoulder. The car was completely unresponsive while traffic was passing at high speed around me. I repeatedly turned the car off and back on, but it would not move for several minutes. This was extremely dangerous and created a serious risk of a rear-end collision. â¢The issue has been inspected and documented by Fletcher Jones Motorcars (authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer) but has not been permanently resolved. â¢No warning lights or messages appeared before the loss of power. â¢The vehicle remains available for inspection. 2.Wheels / Tires / Suspension Defect: The factory 21-inch AMG V-multispoke wheels with
