WHILE MY CAR WAS IN THE SERVICE BAY AT S THE AUTOMOTIVE SHOP MY ENGINE WIRE HARNESS CAUGHT ON FIRE! THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT BEFORE ENTIRE CAR AND HIS SHOP CAUGHT ON FIRE. I HAVE ASKED HIM TO RETAIN HARNESS FOR EVIDENCE, HE SAID HARNESS IS IN PIECES DUE TO EXTREME HEAT OF THIS ELECTRICAL FIRE. I AM SO THANKFUL THAT THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE AT THE SHOP, OR MY ENTIRE FAMILY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE CAR BEGAN TO IDLE ROUGH MONTHS BEFORE, IT COMPLETELY STOPPED. I THOUGHT THIS WAS JUST A MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR, BUT AFTER GETTING THAT FIXED I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT COULD HAVE ENDED IN A CRASH BUT THANKFULLY I WAS ON A ROAD WITH FAIRLY LIGHT TRAFFIC. UPON INSPECTION, THE WIRING HARNESS ON MY '95 E320 COMPLETELY WAS WEARING AWAY, SPECIFICALLY AROUND THE IGNITION COILS. I'M ASHAMED OF MERCEDES FOR NOT RECALLING THIS PROBLEM, AS IT (I HAVE FOUND OUT AFTER READING) IS AN INFAMOUS PROBLEM WITH MB FROM 1993-96.
