Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. I was driving on the local freeway and the strip of glass between the windshield and the sunroof flew off and landed on the pavement behind me. Thankfully the car behind me was far enough away that it didn't hit it--but it could have if it had been. If that had happened I shudder to think what the result would have been. The risk is to those behind me--not to me. The only indication that there was a problem before the event was only a few seconds before the piece flew off when it started to become unattached and the noise from the wind catching it raised my concern. I took the car to Mercedes and had to pay $2300 to have the piece replaced.
This is a plug-in hybrid car and twice in the last two weeks, the car while in motion on the road, has randomly turned off the engine and lost power. The gas pedal is unresponsive and all the alarms on screen flash and I have to coast to a stop. Most recently it was on a busy road and I barely missed being rear-ended. This is an unsafe situation and has happened twice and the only thing which I can do is come to complete stop, turn off the car and restart it and the problem goes away.
