Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2024 CX-90 is steering with 60 filings, followed by engine (26) and forward collision avoidance: adaptive cruise control (23). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 11 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 21 investigation files overlapping the 2024 CX-90, and 1 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. My vehicle was subject to a 2024 recall for what has been described as "sticky steering." The recall repair was completed by Mazda in April, 2024, however the problem persists. The repair was completed before I purchased the vehicle. When I turn my vehicle to the left or right my steering feels heavy and the steering wheel feels like it is sticky when turning. This does not happen every time I turn my car but it does occur frequently. Speed does not seem to make a difference; I have the problem turning in a parking lot at low speeds or on a highway or road at higher speeds. The date that I provided is the date of the most recent event.
I have a 24 CX-90 that is experiencing the steering issue (Recall 24V022) where the steering effort feels like it binds up and locks during slow to medium speed turns, primarily when turning left. No warnings, no codes thrown.
The vehicle was leaking coolant. The Mazda dealership Technician concluded it was a cracked radiator. There was no warning sign. Took vehicle in for an oil change and that's when the problem was discovered. Mazda completed service with replacing a new radiator on 2/12/26. On 2/15/26 the coolant is burning in/on engine. Reservoir is completely empty after being capped off during service. I believe the new radiator has cracked again. The vehicle didn't show a rise in temperature which would allow a driver to continue driving with this issue until they have a major engine failure due to lack of coolant in the system.
To Whom It May Concern, I am submitting this complaint to report serious and ongoing safety concerns regarding my Mazda CX-90. I believe this vehicle presents a significant safety risk to occupants and other drivers on the road. Since the date of purchase, this vehicle has been subject to numerous recalls, repeated software updates, and multiple mechanical issues. The number of recalls alone raises concern about the safety and reliability of this model. In addition, the vehicle has been in service many times, and I have frequently been provided a loaner vehicle due to unresolved problems. On the day of purchase, the vehicle suffered a mechanical failure and had to be towed. While driving in my neighborhood with my children inside, the vehicle suddenly stopped moving and became stuck in reverse. A brand-new vehicle should not experience this type of failure. More recently, I experienced a dangerous steering event on the highway. While traveling in the left lane, the vehicle suddenly

All of a sudden I have experienced sticky steering every time I turn the wheel it does not come back by itself, so need some effort to push it back. Mazda dealership service inspected the car and informed that they already put the order for the part, but it will take around 3 months to get it from mazda. I am not thinking to wait 3 months to get the car repaired. It is basically a new car with 25k miles and costed around $ 60K. I don't understand why they don't have available parts if they know about the issue since the beginning.
The steering wheel has been sticking when turned even in the slightest. It is so dangerous because I have to over correct which causes the car to jerk. I took it to the dealership and was informed that this is a known problem but there is no recall from Mazda. They said itâs going to cost me $4500 to replace the steering rack and gear motor. Itâs a 2 year old car I shouldnât be having these kind of major repairs. I get regular maintenance and always take it in for any recalls.
Sticky Steering. noise in front left wheel when doing a right turn on slow speeds. steering wheel stays in place when doing a full right turn.
The steering wheel sticks when driving on highway and going around an extended turn or bend on the highway.
When Iâm going around the corner, the steering feels sort of sticky and either wonât stay in one place or feels a little bit stuck in one place. It sometimes feels like someone else is making micro adjustments to the steering as Iâm holding the steering wheel. This has been happening for about the last 10,000 miles on the vehicle.
Steering wheel still sticks, even after multiple recalls and replacement of steering rack.
The steering wheel keeps sticking when turning left or right. It does not matter what speed you are going. I almost hit a car due to this. The previous steering recall has been performed without fixing the issue. I took the car to Mazda in Corpus Christi, TX and they claim they can not find an issue. I can repeat the issue l even parked.

Repeated episodes of âstickyâ steering. Requires a lot of effort or force to move the wheel. Highly problematic in turns. Have had to yank the wheel so hard to straighten it, it caused the entire car swerve. Very dangerous. After research, appears this is a wide spread issue with this particular vehicle.
Steering wheel sticks when turning at a high rate of speed, on freeways ect.
Steering is sticky/requires extra effort to center when turning left
The steering wheel sticks especially when making long turns. It jutters and scares the driver. Some times it holds in place and you have to jerk it back to straight.
