THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE BEARING WAS BURNT DUE TO SLUDGE. THE CONTACT CALLED MAZDA OF MILFORD AT 866-981-2838 AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. VEHICLES BRAKES SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING CAUSING A LOW SPEED COLLISION. I HAD THE BRAKES INSPECTED, AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY CAR, BUT MAZDA DID NOT INITIATE A RECALL. I THEN DISCOVERED THAT THE NHTSA HAD STRUCK A DEAL WITH MAZDA, AGREEING TO AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH NO CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION. THIS IS A CLEAR CASE OF A GOVERNMENT AGENCY THAT IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT CONSUMERS, SHIRKING THEIR DUTY. NHTSA AND MAZDA YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!

VEHICLE WAS PARKED. THE TAILGATE WAS OPENED MANUALLY. I WAS MOVING ITEMS AROUND IN THE TRUNK TO MAKE ROOM FOR NEW PURCHASES. MY HUSBAND DID NOT SEE THAT I WAS MOVING ITEMS IN THE TRUNK. HE APPROACHED THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND PRESSED THE POWER TAILGATE BUTTON INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE TAILGATE BEGAN TO CLOSE. IT MADE CONTACT WITH THE BACK OF MY NECK AND PUSHED MY FACE DOWN INTO THE FLOOR BOARD. THE SENSORS DID NOT WORK. WHEN THE TAILGATE MADE CONTACT WITH ME IT PUSHED DOWN HARDER AN

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE HAD A LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. I SAW AN ARTICLE IN USA TODAY, REGARDING MY VEHICLE STATING THAT AN INVESTIGATION WAS STARTED DUE TO 7 REPORTED INCIDENTS ON BRAKE FAILURES WHICH RESEMBLED MY EXPERIENCE. I AM NOW SHARING MY STORY AS IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY.
