Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 2 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 2 investigation files overlapping the 2008 QUATTROPORTE. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2005-2008 Quattroporte, 2008 Granturismo, and 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C vehicles. The rear tie rod assemblies may have insufficient anti-corrosion material applied, allowing them to weaken and possibly fail.

MASERATI IS RECALLING 7,912 MY 2008 GRAN TURISMO, QUATTROPORTE, AND ALFA ROMEO VEHICLES. INCORRECTLY TORQUED UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINT NUTS MAY CAUSE THE BALL JOINT NUTS TO LOOSEN.
THE MASERATI 4.2L ENGINE USED IN THE EARLY 2000S THROUGH EARLY 2009 HAVE AN EXTREMELY HIGH PERCENTAGE THAT HAVE AN ENGINE FAULT (CAM VARIATOR) THAT REQUIRES REPAIR. MASERATI NORTH AMERICA KNOWS OF THE ISSUE, HAS ISSUED A TECHNICAL REPAIR BULLETIN, BUT NEVER TOOK RESPONSIBILITY TO ISSUE A RECALL. THE CASE IS A FAULTY DESIGN AS OIL FLOW DRAINS BACK TO THE SUMP WHEN THE CAR IS NOT RUNNING. THIS RESULTS IN INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE REQUIRING A REPAIR THAT IS IN THE $4,000+ RANGE AT A MASERATI DEALER. LIKE MENTIONED, THIS A KNOWN ISSUE BY THE MANUFACTURER BUT THEY ARE YET TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIRS.

SPARE TIRE JACK FALLS APART AND ARE VERY DANGEROUS. WAS TRYING TO TEACH MY DAUGHTER WHO IS GETTING READY TO DRIVE. THE LEVER IS STRONG WHEN EXTENDED BUT IT LITERALLY TORQUED THE BOLT IN HALF, COLLAPSING THE JACK. THANK GOD THE WHEEL WAS STILL ON. FOLKS BE AWARE. THIS IS A 4500 LBS CAR. SHAME ON MASERATI FOR DELIVERING A CAR LIKE THIS WITH A COMPACT CAR JACK THAT CAN NO WAY SAFELY LIFT THIS CAR. THE MUST BE REQUIRED TO WARN AND REPLACE WITH A PROPERLY SUITED JACK THAT IS LEGITIMATELY CAPABLE OF LIFTING THE CAR SAFELY. *TR
