Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2022 NAVIGATOR is electrical system with 7 filings, followed by service brakes (3) and forward collision avoidance: adaptive cruise control (2). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 12 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle, the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 1 investigation file overlapping the 2022 NAVIGATOR. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page, a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

At about 2:30am after hearing some popping noises I went to the vehicle and saw that the engine under the bonnet was on fire. The fire was seeping out from the sides of the bonnet. The vehicle had been parked since 9:20pm the previous night. I called emergency services including the fire department and the police. It spread very quickly in the Garage where the car was parked and burnt out the garage and the Tesla Plaid parked in the same garage. Firefighters put out the fire with total disintegrated remains. It was just luck that I was awake to catch this at this stage otherwise it would have spread to the house. My 3 children and wife were sleeping. The fire started in the engine of the parked Lincoln Navigator. Visual confirmation of the event is evident.

The foot rails outside the vehicle either don't go up or don't go down. Also, there are several times that the foot rail goes down, and as I step on it, it closes with my foot still on it. Causing me to fall or get my foot stuck between the rail and the car. Fortunately, I didn't get hurt the 4 times that it happened. There is no consistency as to when it happens or any type of warning. The vehicle is scheduled to go in for additional service, but I wanted to file this complaint as it's an extremely dangerous hazard for occupants. Started around the end of June.
upon arriving home after a vacation, the NAV experienced complete brake fluid loss and no braking as a result. I investigated the brake lines and one of the lines had been secured to the frame with a clip - this clip was not secure and the brake like was chaffed against the air cleaner housing

The vehicle failed to start after several attempts. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the vehicle could not be restarted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

I was driving and didn't notice this truck ahead of me as I switched lanes. Although fault is questionable since the truck we traveling extremely slow on the highway, my vehicle had plenty of time to stop with the Pre-Collision System. That system is intended to avoid front end collisions and apply emergency breaks if required. IT DIDN'T. I have video of the system failure from my Dash Cam.

Transmission is now shifting violently, it is produces jolts of power before shifting, a lack of power after shifting and will hold gears longer than usual. Tends to feel like it is gear hunting at low speeds and down shifts sporadically.
Moonroof exploded and shattered while driving. Was on a 2 lane paved highway and no other cars were around.
Windshield wipers will stop working when driving in weather that requires the windshield wipers. They stop in place and will not move even when trying to move them manually. This is an intermittent problem. The windshield wipers will reset and start working after a period of 6+ hours of the car being turned off. This happened on 12/1/22 and 12/10/22 while driving the car. Car dealership will not assist unless there is failure that can be produced at time of service. Lincoln has been notified and is unable to assist as well.
Vehicle would not start. Did not recognize key fob, phone app for engine start or the password.
1. THE MONITOR ON THE VEHICLE WENT BLACK ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS SO FAR WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING. THE SCREEN REBOOTED BUT CAUSES THE RETRACTABLE RUNNING BOARDS TO BE LOCKED IN THE UP POSITION. IN ORDER TO ADDRESS THE RUNNING BOARDS YOU MUST GO INTO THE SETTINGS AND ADJUST THE RUNNING BOARDS FROM OFF TO AUTOMATIC. 2. DURING USE OF THE ACTIVE ASSIST, THE VEHICLE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS HAS JUST SUDDENLT DECELERATED TO 45MPH REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED THAT WAS SET. THIS HAS OCCURED WITH NO VEHICLES INFRONT OR TO THE SIDES ON STRAIGHT ROADS.

Car accelerated very fast while in reverse and brake would not work. After reversing into other cars the car Finally stopped. When the car was turned back on it would not going to gear because the break was not being registered as being pressed

I purchased a new 2022 Lincoln Navigator Reserve L and just took a 3000 mile road trip and used their Active Glide driver assistance extensively and have uncovered a MAJOR safety issue with their system. The issue I found is that when using the adaptive cruise control feature the system will sometimes read a car in the adjacent lane as moving in front of my vehicle and apply the brakes very hard causing my car to immediately and strongly slow down at highway speeds - with other cars behind me. This happens mostly on curves when the straight line of sight sees the car in either the right or left lane next to me at about a 20' distance. There is no warning of brake application and can make the driver lose control. I was almost rear ended multiple times. I know the driver assistance requires the driver to be attentive - and fortunately I heeded these warnings. It appears my vehicle is trying to very quickly acquire the distance between my vehicle and what it thinks is a vehicle in f
