DT WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON FOR NO REASON. EVERYTIME CONSUMER DRIVES THE VEHICLE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON. *AK

20050324TIRES:TEMPORARY/EMERGENCY SPARE TIRE

SPARE TIRE HOLDER UNDERNEATH VEHICLE CAME OFF WHILE DRIVING. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE ENTIRE PART NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THE OLD PARTS CANNOT BE USED.

Mileage: 108,000

20050308SUSPENSION:FRONT:SPRINGS:COIL SPRINGS

WHILE BACKING CAR OUT OF GARAGE THERE WAS A LOUD POP NOISE AND THE CAR STOPPED MOVING. THE FAILURE WAS THE COIL SPRING HAD COME LOOSE FROM ITS MOUNTING DUE TO CORROSION AND HAD RIPPED A 2 INCH HOLE IN THE TIRE SIDEWALL CAUSING RAPID LOSS OF PRESSURE AND A FLAT TIRE. HAD I BEEN TRAVELING ON A HIWAY I WOULD HAVE SWERVED DIRECTLY INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. CURRENTLY I HAVE THE CAR AT A FORD DEALER AND AM AWAITING PARTS FOR REPAIR. SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME PROBLEM AS HAS BEEN NOTED IN FORD TARUS AND MERCURY SABLES.*AK

Mileage: 86,850

20050107VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CRUISE CONTROL

ON DECEMBER 10, 2004 I WAS DRIVING DOWN I75S AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 60 MPH. FOR SOME STRANGE REASON MY TRUCK SPEED INCREASED AND IMMEDIATELY WENT INTO CRUISE CONTROL. I DID NOT SET THE CRUISE CONTROL, AND COULD NOT UNDERSTAND HOW OR WHY IT COULD AUTOMATICALLY SET ITSELF. I WAS VERY FRIGHTEN BECAUSE WHEN THIS OCCURRED THE ONLY THING I COULD THINK ABOUT WAS MY BABY IN THE CAR WITH ME AND RUNNING INTO THE BACK END OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. NOW, I'M SO AFRAID THAT THIS WILL OCCUR GAIN AND I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG OR THERE'S A DEFECT IN THE CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM THAT NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE DIES. *AK

Mileage: 148,700

20041208STEERING:LINKAGES:TIE ROD ASSEMBLY

TIE-ROD BROKE, WHEN FIXED BY DEALERSHIP, WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF NAVIGATORS, HOWEVER LINCOLN HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. FORTUNATELY, MY FAMILY WAS NOT INJURED. *JB

Mileage: 75,000

20010412SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:ROTOR

BRAKING PROBLEM WITH ROTORS AT 12300 MILES, DEALER RESURFACED ROTORS, PROBLEM REOCCURED AGAIN AT 45000 MILES, DEALER WANTS TO RESURFACE ROTORS AGAIN AND CHARGE ME. I BELIEVE THE ROTORS WERE DEFECTIVE FROM DAY ONE. THE CURRENT BRAKE PADS AND ORIGINAL ARE STILL GOOD. THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT STOPPING QUICKLY WILL WARP MY BRAKE ROTORS, I HAVE OWNED MANY AUTOS AND NEVER HAD TO RESURFACE BECAUSE OF WARPPAGE.*AK
