HE SAID THAT THE PROBLEM WAS LINKED TO A LEAKING WINDSHIELD THAT WAS IN THE FORD EXPEDITIONS, PICKUPS AND THE LINCOLN NAVIGATORS. WHEN WATER LEAKED IT, IT WOULD RUN INTO THE CONTROL MODULES AND CAUSE PROBLEMS, INCLUDING FIRE. I HAVE A 1998 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR WITH 39K MILES. ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE IS 8 YEARS OLD IT ONLY HAS 39K MILES WHICH MAKES IT A "NEW" VEHICLE BY ANY STANDARDS. SINCE THIS IS THE 1ST MODEL YEAR, THE VEHICLE WAS MADE WITH INFERIOR THREADING TO THE CYLINDER HEAD. THIS HAS CAUSED THE SPARK PLUG TO EXPLODE AND CAUSED DAMAGES TO IGNITION COIL, HELI COIL AND INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET. THE THREADING IN THE 1999 MODEL WAS RECTIFIED BY LINCOLN BY ADDING ADDITIONAL THREADING. THIS IMPROVEMENT INSINUATES THAT LINCOLN WAS AWARE THAT THIS WAS A SIGNIFICANT PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THEY HAVE FAILED TO RE-CALL THE 1ST YEAR MODELS AND THIS FAILURE HAS CAUSED ME AUTOMOBILE PROBLEMS AS WELL AS SIGNIFICANT MONETARY LOSS. *NM

DUE TO A FLAT TIRE, I HAD TO PULL MY NAVIGATOR OVER, OFF OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY. WHEN I TRIED TO GET MY SON OUT OF THE BACK RIGHT SEAT, THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN DUE TO THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK, LOCKING BY ITSELF. I ALWAYS HAVE TO TAKE THE LOCK OFF MANUALLY. I GOT REALLY SCARED HOWEVER, BECAUSE WE COULD HAVE BEEN PLOWED INTO BY A BIG TRACTOR TRAILER COMING UP. MY SON HAD TO JUMP INTO THE FRONT SEAT TO EXIT THE FRONT. WHEN I TOLD MY HUSBAND, HE SAID HIS FORD, EXPEDITION WHICH IS A 1999 MODEL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.*AK
