Within that volume, owners reported 1 crash, 0 fires, 0 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.

Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2001 LX470 is vehicle speed control with 3 filings, followed by service brakes, hydraulic:antilock/traction control/electronic limited slip (1) and electronic stability control (esc) (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 1 active recall campaign, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 3 investigation files overlapping the 2001 LX470. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

SO THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ORIGINALLY AND IT WAS SO LOUD THAT NOT ONLY DID IT EFFECT MY HEARING, BUT IT ALMOST MADE ME RUN OFF THE ROAD. IT THEN PROCEEDED TO GET WORSE JUST WHEN THE KEY WAS IN THE IGNITION AND WASN'T EVEN STARTED. IT IS A LOUD POPPING, CRACKING NOISE COMING FROM THE SPEAKER AREAS, AND FROM WHAT I HAVE NOW DETERMINED IT IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE MARK LEVINSON AMPLIFIER NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT BASICALLY RENDERS THE VEHICLE USELESS (DUE TO THE SOUND) UNTIL YOU PULL THE AMPLIFIER OUT, PULLING THE STEREO FUSE DIDN'T GET RID OF IT EITHER. THESE AMPS AND THESE STEREOS SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED LONG AGO AS THEY ARE TRULY A DANGER TO THE MOTORIST WHO OWNS THEM. THERE IS NO DOCUMENTATION ON HOW TO DISABLE THEM WITHOUT PHYSICALLY REMOVING THEM AND THE SOUND THAT COMES OUT OF THEM WHEN THEY HAVE AN ISSUE IS HORRENDOUS. THIS RECALL NEEDS TO HAPPEN FOR SAFETY AND ALSO FOR THE SIMPLE FACT THAT CONSUMERS ARE GETTING COMPLETELY SCREWED OVER BY THE FACT THAT THESE ARE

I HAVE A 2001 LEXUS LX 470 ON THREE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS THE VSC HAS ACTIVATED AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL AND ALMOST AN ACCIDENT. EVERY TIME IT WAS ON DRY ROADS WITH NICE WEATHER. THE VSC LIGHT WOULD COME ON FOR A BRIEF SECOND AND THE VSC OFF LIGHT AND CENTER DIFFERENTIAL LIGHT WOULD STAY ON UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN REVERSE AND A LOUD POP THEN THE LIGHTS WOULD GO OFF. DURING THIS TIME THE STEERING WOULD BE TIGHT. *TR

I HAVE LEXUS LX470 2001 WHICH SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING AFTER I MADE A STOP AT A CORNER WHICH HAD A STEEP UPHILL TO CLIMB AND IT WOULD NOT GO FORWARD BUT STARTED TO ROLL BACK WHEN I ACCELERATED THE VEHICLE. I HEAR THE SOUND OF THE ENGINE BUT IT WOULD NOT GO FORWARD. I TOOK IT TO LEXUS BUT THEY SAID EVERYTHING IS FINE. IT HAPPENED AGAIN TWO TO THREE TIMES AND FINALLY LEXUS SAID THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE IS MALFUNCTIONING AND CHANGED IT FOR AROUND APPROXIMATELY $2000. SO PLEASE LOOK INTO THE MATTER IF THERE ARE ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF SIMILAR NATURE TO MAKE THESE VEHICLES SAFER TO DRIVE. THANKS. I AM GIVING APPROXIMATE DATES. *TR
