TOYOTA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 THROUGH 2008 LEXUS PASSENGER CARS MANUFACTURED FROM AUGUST 26, 2005 THROUGH AUGUST 4, 2008. MICRO-FOREIGN OBJECTS IN THE MATERIAL OF THE VALVE SPRING MAY DEGRADE THE STRENGTH OF THE VALVE SPRING, POSSIBLY CAUSING THE SPRING TO BREAK.

THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND IT, BUT WANTED ME TO PAY $840 FOR GASKET KIT, BUT WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD FIX IT, NEXT STEP WOULD BE TO PULL THE ENGINE AT MY EXPENSE...? FIRE HAZARD !

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NALLEY LEXUS GALLERIA (2750 COBB PKWY SOUTH EAST, SMYRNA, GA 30080) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE'S EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THIS MODEL HESITATES IN CHANGING (HUNTING) GEARS ON HARD ACCELERATIONS. THREE TIMES I HAVE BEEN IN NEAR ACCIDENTS ON MERGING INTO FREEWAYS, CHANGING LANES FROM A STRAIGHT PATH OR FROM CORNER TURNS. THE CAR RESPONDS VERY SLOW ON HARD ACCELERATION. THE WEB IS FULL OF SIMILAR INCIDENTS WITH THIS MODEL CAR. I SUSPECT IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH LEXUS' EIGHT SPEED TRANSMISSION AND HOW THEIR SOFTWARE IS INTEGRATED WITH THE POWERTRAIN. LEXUS HAD A "FIX" FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT DID NOT QUITE FIX IT COMPLETELY AND THEY INSIST THE CAR IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. I CAME ACROSS A TEST DRIVE REVIEW, AT WWW.AUTOBYTEL.COM, FOR A 2013 LEXUS RX 350 WITH THE LEXUS 8-SPEED TRANSMISSION AND IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS MENTIONED ABOVE AND WHICH CAUSED A NEAR ACCIDENT DURING THE AUTOBYTEL TEST DRIVE AS STATED IN THEIR ARTICLE. *TR
