BROUGHT CAR INTO DEALERSHIP FOR A FUEL PUMP RECALL . I TOOK IT HOME AND PARKED IT IN THE GARAGE TILL LATER THAT WEEK . WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT I NOTICED IT HAD A SMILE AND SMOKE CAME OUT INTO THE CABIN . SO PULLED OVER AND CALLED MY LOCAL LEXUS DEALER AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAES GOING ON . THE SERVICE MANAGER THEN TOLD ME TO DRIVE THIS CAR TO THE DEALER . I SAID NO WAY .SO HE TOLD ME TO CALL A TOW. WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK I LIFTED UP THE HOOD SO OTHERS WOULD KNOW MY CAR IS BROKEN DOWN . SO I LOOKED TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED, I NOTICE THE FUEL PUMP HAD YES BOLTS IN THEM . ALL THE BOLTS WERE MISSING SO THE FUEL PUMP WAS DANGLING THEIR . WHEN I TOLD THEM THAT I DID NOT FELL SAFE IN THIS CAR AND IT'S NOT ORIGINAL ANYMORE . THEY TOLD ME THEY FIXED EVERYTHING ON IT . I TOLD THEM I DON'T WANT THE CAR CAUSE YOU REPLACE THE HEAD OF THE ENGINE AND MUCH MORE THINGS THAT'S MAKES THE CAR NOT A MATCHING NUMBER CAR . I TOLD THEM ALL I WANT IS A REPLACE CAR . THIS IS AN ADDENDUM TO MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINT NUMBER 11021722 REGARDING MALFUNCTION OF BLIND SPOT MONITORS AS I NEGLECTED TO INCLUDE THE HISTORY I HAVE HAD WITH THE DEALER. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER NO LESS THAN 4 TIMES. INITIALLY THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM (TECHNICIAN RODE WITH ME) BUT COULD NOT RESOLVE IT. THEY ADMIT THAT OTHER CARS OF THIS MODEL ARE EXHIBITING THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT LEXUS HAS MADE A "PLATFORM" CHANGE TO THE SYSTEM. I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE THAT A MANUFACTURER WOULD INTENTIONALLY CHANGE A SYSTEM TO MAKE IT UNRELIABLE. HAVING A SAFETY SYSTEM THAT ONLY WORKS ABOUT HALF THE TIME IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
BLIND SPOT MONITORS ON OUTSIDE MIRRORS ONLY REGISTER AT BEST ONLY APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE TIME WHEN A CAR IS PASSED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN MY CAR IS MOVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS, ON DIFFERENT TYPES OF ROADS, AND WITH VARYING TYPES OF VEHICLES PASSED (IE.SEMIS, SPORTS CARS, BOX TRUCKS, ETC.).
