Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2012 RANGE ROVER EVOQUE is engine with 10 filings, followed by service brakes (6) and power train (5). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 2 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 2 investigation files overlapping the 2012 RANGE ROVER EVOQUE. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. 2012 Range Rover Evoque suddenly, and without warning died while driving in traffic, and would not restart. It needed to be pushed away from oncoming traffic. A sheriff deputy was summoned to control traffic, as we did this. There were no warning lamps, or messages appearing on the display, both before and after the incident. Currently the car is at a foreign repair facility here in Lexington, KY. The name of the facility is: Scheller Automotive, (859) 225-6277. I spoke earlier with Andy, who stated it was an issue with no compression, which prevented it from being started. He believed it had to do with a dislocated cam gear, which caused a timing failure. According to him, there is a Range Rover service bulletin which they received describing this engine failing, but no recall regarding this issue. He said they now have THREE vehicles in the shop, with this same problem. This catastrophic failure could lead to definite safety concerns, by causing the car to die unexpectedly, without w

While driving 2012 Range Rover Evoque the engine light turned on. The vehicle was taken to the mechanical shop where the light was diagnosed as a cracked engine exhaust manifold w/ turbo. Doing research, it was found that the OEM manufacturer knows about the issues of the cracking engine exhaust manifold w/ turbo since the metal that used to make it is a metal alloy. The replacement engine exhaust manifold w/ turbo part that the OEM sells to repair it is made out of steel and is a costly repair. The OEM puts cost over safety.

In about Feb 2017, we purchased this vehicle, a 2012 Range Rover Evoque (5 door), from a GMC dealership; it was previously owned. When purchased, an exhaust smell was noticed inside of the vehicle and the vehicle was returned to the dealership for service and inspection into the cause of the odor. It was ultimately transferred to a Land Rover dealership in Scottsdale, Arizona (Land Rover North Scottsdale 18100 N Scottsdale Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85054) where they determined the turbo charger had a crack in the manifold. It was replaced. About one and a half years later, this smell returned and I contacted the dealership about it. I was told their repair warranty was only for one year and they would not repair it. Researching these turbo chargers on my own, I discovered they are commonly failing and people have experienced similar issues with the turbo and exhaust smell. This time, the exhaust odor seems to only last a short time when first starting the vehicle from a cold start, leadin

WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT ABOUT 80 MPH, THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE MALFUNCTIONED AND I COULDN'T PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL; IT WOULD NOT EVEN GO DOWN. THERE WERE 2 CARS DRIVING AHEAD OF ME ON THE LEFT LANE, THEREFORE, I TRIED TO PASS TO THE RIGHT LANE BY CHECKING WHETHER THERE WAS ANY SPACE BECAUSE THERE WERE 2 TRUCKS BEHIND ON THE RIGHT 2 LANES. LUCKILY, I COULD PASS TO THE RIGHT LANES AND FINALLY TO THE SHOULDER TO TRY TO SLOW DOWN. THEN, I DROVE THE CAR TO A NEARBY ROADHOUSE AREA AND I STOPPED THE CAR THERE BY HANDBRAKE. THIS WAS REALLY UNBELIEVABLE AND TERRIFYING. THEN, THE VEHICLE WAS CARRIED BY A TOW TRUCK BACK TO ANKARA, AND THE CAR MECHANIC CHECKED THE CAR, WHERE THEY DETERMINED THAT A PART INSIDE THE BRAKE VACUUM MOTOR WAS TOTALLY BROKEN, AND THAT COULD HAVE CREATED A FATAL ACCIDENT,

EXPERIENCING EXHAUST FUMES IN THE CABIN. FAILED STATE INSPECTION AFTER MECHANIC CHECKED AND FOUND CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD - LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. FOUND SIMILAR ISSUE ON EVOQUE FORUMS. DEALER INDICATES THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE WITH CARBON MONOXIDE BEING FUNNELED INTO THE VEHICLE BY A FAILED PART, A PART THAT SHOULD NOT BE FAILING, AT LEAST, NOT CRACKING. I WAS WONDERING WHY I FELT SICK, SLEEPY, AND SUFFERED HEADACHES AND VOMITING. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FUMES FILLED HIS GARAGE AND HE HAD TO WORK ON THE VEHICLE OUTSIDE OF GARAGE IN THE PARKING LOT. THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE REASON FOR A RECALL FOR A VEHICLE WITH LOW MILEAGE AND CAN CAUSE DEATH IF VEHICLE IS RUNNING INSIDE THE GARAGE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FILED ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING, VEHICLE LOOSES POWER. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND CAN NOT BE PREDICTED. NO SIGNS OR SIGNALS THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM BEFORE CAR STALLS. VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS SITUATION. ALMOST GOT STRUCK FROM BEHIND. PULLED OVER, TURNED VEHICLE OFF, THEN BACK ON AND RESTARTED AND DROVE WITH NO ISSUES. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. USUALLY HAPPENS AFTER DEESCALATION OF SPEED, LIKE EXITING EXPRESSWAY BUT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. TOOK VEHICLE TO LAND ROVER AND WAS TOLD IF THERE WEREN'T ANY MESSAGES DISPLAYED, THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG.
