The 2010KIASEDONA carries 48 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 7 crashes, 5 fires, 1 injury, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2010 SEDONA is service brakes with 7 filings, followed by electrical system (6) and exterior lighting (4). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 5 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 2 investigation files overlapping the 2010 SEDONA. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

My 2010 Kia Sedona has a major problem with the brakes. I had a problem with the brake pedal sinking too far. I took it to a local mechanic. This mechanic installed a new master cylinder. Two days later the brakes started to grab. The brakes were activating without my foot on the brake pedal. I had the Kia towed back to the local mechanic. The local mechanic said the master cylinder was working properly. This mechanic told me to take it to the Kia Dealership to reprogram the ABS Module. I have had the Kia at the Kia Dealership three different times for this same problem. The first time the Kia Dealership did do some reprogramming. They also said there was rust in the master cylinder reservoir. The Kia Dealership has driven the car several miles. They claim they can not duplicate the problem. So they have given the car back to me without doing anything. I have had the problem with the brakes grabbing on three different occasions. Each time I have had to have the Kia towe

THERE IS NO WAY TO GET OUT OF THE TAILGATE ON THIS VEHICLE, AND NO WAY TO OPEN THE TAILGATE AT ALL. WHILE SITTING STILL, WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING AND WITHOUT THE ENGINE RUNNING, THE TAILGATE WILL NOT UNLOCK IN ANY OF THE THREE UNLOCKING MODES: USING THE REMOTE FOB, USING THE KEY IN THE DRIVERS DOOR, OR OPERATING THE UNLOCK SWITCH ON THE INTERIOR DRIVERS DOOR PANEL. IS IT LEGAL TO HAVE NO ACCESS TO OPEN THE TAILGATE FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE? THE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM IS NOW SILENT WHEN TRYING TO GET IT TO OPERATE, AND NO LONGER CLICKS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO UNLOCK IT. THE OWNER'S MANUAL INDICATES THE TAILGATE LOCK IS ON THE SAME FUSE AS THE REAR SLIDING DOORS, AND THEY CONTINUE TO UNLOCK AS NORMAL IN ALL THREE UNLOCKING MO
