PACCAR IS RECALLING 36 MY 2007-2008 T270, T370 AND MY 207 T300 TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH DUAL UNDER-CAB FUEL TANKS AND AN IN-CAB BATTERY BOX (ICBB). A HARNESS SUPPORT BRACKET MOUNTED ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAB MAY COME IN CONTACT WITH THE FUEL LINE AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL SPLITTER VALVE.

THE CONTACT HEARD AN EXCESSIVELY LOUD NOISE AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. HE ALSO EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY WITH THE STEERING WHEEL PULLING TOWARDS THE LEFT. AFTERWARDS, THE STEERING WHEEL RELEASED AND WAS OPERABLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON FIFTEEN SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. HE WAS VERY CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED AND THE POSSIBILITY OF THE WINDSHIELD DETACHING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 10,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DESIGN OF THE GASKET THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO HOLD THE GLASS TO THE TRUCK. THE WINDSHIELD WAS HELD IN PLACE BY A LARGE RUBBER GASKET. THE CONSUMER BELIEVED THE MANUFACTURER WAS LOOKING TO CUT INSTALLATION TIME AND COST WITHOUT DEVELOPING A NEW WINDSHIELD. UPDATED 07/15/08
