Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler 4XE and 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE vehicles. The high voltage battery may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving.

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4XE. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was previously taken to a local dealer, where unknown recall-related repairs were performed. The vehicle was repaired at the owner's expense; however, the failure progressed. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

The contact was advised by an Attorney to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The contact stated that the vehicle was not reliable and was unsafe to drive. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and remained with the dealer. The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4XE. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the windshield wipers and the heater unintendedly engaged. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was unable to turn off the vehicle, which required the contact to wait until the battery was drained. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the battery pack assembly had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the high-voltage battery pack software needed to be updated and the battery pack assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000. The VIN was not available.
