Within that volume, owners reported 36 crashes, 19 fires, 32 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2007 LIBERTY is visibility:power window devices and controls with 151 filings, followed by fuel system, gasoline (106) and fuel/propulsion system (101). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 7 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 5 investigation files overlapping the 2007 LIBERTY. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

Subject: Inquiry Regarding Ball Joint and Control Arm Issues on My 2007 Jeep Liberty Dear support tech, I am writing to express my concerns regarding recurring issues with my 2007 Jeep Liberty, specifically with the driver-side ball joint and control arm. In 2019, I had the driver-side ball joint replaced at Firestone. However, on [XXX], I experienced a serious issue when the wheel became stuck while reversing out of a parking space. Fortunately, it occurred at low speed, and the vehicle was towed through my insurance. A family member was able to fix it temporarily. More recently, on February 25, 2025, I had new wheels installed at Firestone, where I was informed that there is an issue with both the front control arm and the left and right ball joints. Given that I donât drive at high speeds and use the vehicle less frequently now, this seems unusual and concerning. Iâve seen reports about similar issues with same model and year (Reddit, jeep forums). Could this be a recurring

Been over 30 days since vehicle was inspected for a recall that requires installing a tow hitch. Manufacturer will not provide an ETA for parts however I can go thru various other methods to obtain parts needed within a few days. Seems like manufacturer is stalling and not wanting to fix issue.

Pulling away from getting gas I heard and felt a loud bang. Could not turn my wheel much. Something was scraping the ground. I got out and saw my lower ball on the driver's front broke off slightly pulling my cv joint. Sat for hours until I got a tow back home. I'm lucky I wasn't on the highway, I could have died. Doesn't show a recall but I just purchased this car. Have had nothing but issues.

Many Jeep vehicles have gas blow back during refueling. This problem has existed for a number of years and Jeep has issued recalls. Please read the following: If each Jeep user spills .1 gallon during refueling and they refuel the Jeep 12 times per year they spill 1.2 gallons per year. This is a very low estimate. If there are 100,000 Jeeps experiencing this problem that is 120,000 gallons of gas per year. Does anyone at NHTSA care?
