I RECENTLY INSTALLED NEW BUMPSTOPS ON THE REAR OF MY JEEP AND NOTICED A DECREASE IN BRAKING ABILITY. TODAY WHILE DRIVING I HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF BRAKING POWER AND REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHILE INSPECTING MY BRAKING SYSTEM AND MY JEEP FOR DAMAGE. I NOTICED THAT I HAD A REAR BRAKE LINE COLLAPSED. I REMEMBER READING ABOUT RECALL 90V206000. IT STATED THAT "CONTACT AT FULL JOUNCE MAY CAUSE THE BRAKE TUBE TO COLLAPSE AND RESTRICT THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE FLUID PRESSURE TO THE LEFT REAR BRAKE WHIC

PARTICULAR INCIDENT INVOLVED SAID VEHICLE ROLLING BACKWARD DOWN A SUBTLE GRADE AFTER THE OWNER EXITED THE VEHICLE W/KEYS IN HAND. THE VEHICLE SHIFT LEVER WAS ENGAGED IN D (DRIVE) AND THE VEHICLE ENGINE WAS NOT RUNNING. AS A RESULT, VEHICLE IMPACTED ANOTHER CAR INCURRING SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE REAR OF SAID VEHICLE. WHEN VEHICLE MOTOR IS TURNED OFF, WHILE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER IS ENGAGED IN D (DRIVE), R (REVERSE), 3, OR 1-2 (LOW GEAR) AND IGNITION KEY IS REMOVED, VEHICLE CAN MOVE FREELY F

CAUSED ACCUMULATOR TO FAIL - MANUFACTURER REFUSES STAND BEHIND ABS SYSTEM - WILL REPAIR ONLY THE PART UNDER LIFETIME RECALL. HAVE HAD TWO FRONT END COLLISIONS DUE TO THIS PRODUCT FAILURE. ALL POWER ASSIST IS LOST TO BRAKES - LEFT WITH MANUAL BRAKES ONLY - BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON, PUMP RUNS CONTINUOUSLY - BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATES/HUMS WHEN DEPRESSED.

I WAS DRIVING IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC ON MY WAY TO WORK AT 6:45AM AND WAS ON THE ROAD FOR APPROX. 10 MINS. I SMELLED A STRONG BURNING SMELL, THEN NOTICED DARK BLACK SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE DASHBOARD BY THE FRONT WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. BY THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO A SAFETY ZONE, A FIRE HAD STARTED AND FLAMES AND MELTED PLASTIC STARTED DRIPPING TO THE FLOORBOARD. WITHIN 20-30 SECONDS, THE FLAMES HAD ENGULFED THE ENTIRE DRIVER SIDE AND WAS SHOOTING UP FROM THE CEILING OF THE CAR. I W
WHILE DRIVING, THE DASH LIGHTS WENT OUT. I TURNED THE DIMMER CONTROL AND THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD ONLY BE ON FULL BRIGHTNESS OR OFF, THERE WAS NO DIMMER CONTROL. APPROXIMATELY 60 SECONDS LATER WE COULD SMELL SOMETHING HOT. APPROXIMATELY 2 MINUTES LATER WE NOTICED A GLOW COMING FROM UNDER THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH BOARD. WE WERE CLOSE TO OUR HOME AND TURNED INTO THE DRIVEWAY, AT WHICH TIME I WAS FORCED TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW DUE TO BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM THE LEFT AIR CONDITIONING VENT. I
CHEROKEE SLIPPED OUT OF PARK INTO REVERSE, TRAPPING DRIVER. DRIVER WAS THROWN ONTO CONCRETE AND JEEP DROVE OVER LEFT LEG, CRUSHING IT.

CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AND THEN PARKED VEHICLE. DRIVER GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND WENT INTO HER WORK PLACE, AND SOMEONE TOLD HER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SMOKING AND ON FIRE. THE FIRE BURNED THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE/DASH BOARD AND THE ROOF. THE CONSUMER LOST HER VEHICLE DUE TO THE FIRE, AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. *AK

WHILE DRIVING THE JEEP, DRIVER NOTICED HESITATION. AT THAT TIME DRIVER PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AND NOTICED FIRE COMING FROM THE HOOD ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE JEEP WAS TOTALLED. *AK BECAUSE OF A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

DRIVERS SEATBACK RECLINED FROM IMPACT OF COLLISION.
STARTED THE VEHICLE UP AND PUT THE GEAR SHIFT IN DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF LIKE A ROCKET. WHEN THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE VEHICLE ALMOST HIT A CHILD, AND TO AVOID HITTING THE CHILD VEHICLE RAN INTO A BASEBALL FIELD AND THEN FLAP IN THE AIR. VEHICLE IS UNDER A NON-SAFETY RECALL 97I- 002 000.
