The contact owned a 1993 Isuzu Trooper. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed. During the crash the vehicle experienced a rollover and the frontend was severely damaged but the airbags did not deploy. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The vehicle was destroyed and the driver sustained severe head injuries and a fractured spine. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was contacted. The local dealer was not notified. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 3,000.

THE DRIVER NOTICED LIQUID LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHILE IT WAS PARKED. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT AND PULLED OVER. OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE DEALER. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE CAM SHAFT SEAL PLUG NEEDED REPLACEMENT. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB

REFER TO TSB# SB9601L005 / NHTSA# 049410 THIS PAST SUMMER I CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS AGAIN. WHEN I PULLED THE OLD PLUGS, 4 HAD OIL SITTING ON THE TOP SIDE OF THE PLUGS AND THE PLUG BOOTS WERE COVERED WITH OIL. 2 WEEKS AGO, MY TROOPER STARTED BAD EVERYDAY, AND MOST OF THE TIME MY "CHECK TRANS" LIGHT WAS COMING ON, SO I HAD TO RESTART, AND MANY TIMES WHILE DRIVING FROM A STOP, THE "CHECK TRANS" LIGHT WOULD COME ON AGAIN, THUS DEFAULTING MY TRANSMISSION INTO 3RD GEAR, (PRETTY DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO GET THROUGH AN INTERSECTION FAST IN ORDER NOT TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT, OR PULLING INTO TRAFFIC). LAST WEEK I PULLED THE PLUG WIRES AGAIN (OIL POOLED AGAIN). I PULLED ALL THE PLUGS, WIPED THEM CLEAN AS WELL AS THE WIRES AND ALSO CLEANED THE PLUG TUBES AS WELL. TROOPER RAN GREAT THEN. I CALLED 2 ISUZU DEALERS TO ASK ABOUT THE TSB WHERE IT REFERS TO OIL IN THE SPARK PLUG WELLS, BOTH DEALERS SAID A NEW WIRE KIT HAD TO BE INSTALLED TO SEAL THE OIL LEAK (FOR AN OIL LEAK?) I WE
STUDS ON DRIVERS SIDE TIRE BROKE WHEN TRYING TO REMOVE LUGS: NUTS. DEALER STUDS WERE MADE OF AN ALLOY. CONSUMER WAS NOT ABLE TO CHANGE TIRES BECAUSE STUDS WOULDBREAK. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK

THIS IS THE SECOND TBRIDESTONE TIRE IN TWO MONTHS THAT I HAVE LOST TREAD FROM. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY TWICE AND DON'T WANT A THIRD INCIDENT. I WAS IN 5:30PM TRAFFIC AND FELT THAT THE CAR WAS NOT RIDING CORRECTLY I DECIDED TO EXIT THE FREEWAY AND WHEN I DID I LOST HALF OF THE TREAD. I STILL HAVE THE TIRE IN MY CAR. I DROVE IMMEDIATLEY TO A LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER AND THE BEST THEY WOULD DO IS PRO-RATE MY ANOTHER BRIDGESTONE DUELER TIRE. I'M STUCK BECAUSE THESE TIRES ARE NOT IN THE RECALL AND SHOULD BE!! ORIGINAL TIRES ON VEHICLE WERE DUELER 684. REPLACED WITH SAME TIRE ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. UNDERSTOOD AT THAT TIME THE DUELER 684 WAS NO LONGER PRODUCED BUT LOCAL FIRESTONE STORE SPECIAL ORDERED LAST 3 TIRES FROM ANOTHER LOCATION'S STOCK SO I WOULD ONLY HAVE TO REPLACE 3 TIRES AND USE MY ORIGINAL UNUSED SPARE. ON 6/12/00 I NOTICED A BULGE ON BACK LEFT TIRE WITH SMALLTIRE SEPARATION. I IMMEDIATELY REPLACED WITH SPARE. DURING THE WEEK BEFORE I TOOK IT TO FIRESTONE FOR REPLACEMENT THE DEFECTIVE TIRE WAS ON MY SPARE RACK AND TOTALLY DECOMPRESSED WITH HALF OF THE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. I WAS LUCKY! LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER (STORE #008842) PRO-RATED TIRE FOR $49.99. TIRE ONLY HAD ABOUT 30,000 MILES ON IT. FIRESTONE REPLACED WITH DUELER H/L P-MET P245/70R16. OTHER TROOPER AND SAME TIRE OWNERS SHOULD ALSO KNOW ABOUT THIS TIRE!! I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING ON THE DUELER 684'S AND HOPE THESE ARE ALSO RECALLED!( DOT NUMBER: Y7MT TIRE SIZE: P245/70R16 )
RECEIVED 94V132000 CONCERNING ENGINE CAMSHAFT FAILURE IN MAIL & CONTACTED DEALERSHIP FOR AN APPOINTMENT. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS ONE YEAR LATER, BUT REMEDY FAILED . DEALERSHIP WAS REFUSING TO REPAIR CAMSHAFT AGAIN. *AK

I HAVE HAD THIS LIFTER PROBLEM FOR A WHILE AND WAS JUST INFORMED ON 03/22/99 BY A MECHANIC THAT WORKED FOR ISUZU A ONE TIME. HE SAID THAT THE 93' TROOPERS HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE LIFTERS SINCE THEY CAME OUT. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AND ENTERING NJ TURNPIKE ON RAMP, APPROXIMATELY 40MPH, DEBRIS ON ROAD, TRYING TO AVOID, THE VEHICLE ROLLED ONCE AND SLID ONTO THE PASSENGER'S SIDE, SKIDDED AND CAME TO STOP. GAS TANK CRACKED AND VEHICLE WAS TOTALLED. DEAL/MANUFACTURER NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. POLICE REPORT TAKEN, DOT IS INVESTIGATING THE SITUATION. *AK *ML
