Within that volume, owners reported 2 crashes, 0 fires, 1 injury, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.

Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 1992 AMIGO is wheels with 1 filings, followed by electrical system:ignition:module (1) and engine and engine cooling:exhaust system:manifold/header/muffler/tail pipe (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.

NHTSA currently has 5 investigation files overlapping the 1992 AMIGO. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. THROTTLE CABLE STUCK ON MY 1992 ISUZU AMIGO. FORTUNATELY, IT WAS WHILE STARTING UP AND THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED I CALLED ISUZU AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SO I TOOK CAR TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND HAD THE THROTTLE CABLE REPLACED (PARTS 31.25 LABOR $82.50 = $113.75 TOTAL). I THEN FOUND THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 04V99000 ASSOCIATED WITH THE 1992 ISUZU TROOPER. OURS IS A 1992 ISUZU AMIGO. BY CHANCE, ARE THESE SPEED CONTROL CABLES SIMILAR? *JB
