ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
NAVISTAR IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2003 THROUGH 2008 HEAVY TRUCKS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN APRIL 1, 2003 AND DECEMBER 21, 2007, EQUIPPED WITH CATERPILLAR C15 ENGINES. THE VARIABLE VALVE ACTUATION (VVA) OIL LINE MAY WEAR AGAINST THE P-CLIPS RETAINING THE OIL LINE, CAUSING AN OIL LEAK.
2005 INTERNATIONAL 9400I, UNIT 1 WAS PULLING OUT OF THE OAK OPENING SERVICE PLAZA TRUCK PARKING LOT AND HIS TRAILER CAME UNATTACHED FROM TRACTOR. *BF THE TRAILER LANDING GEAR WAS DAMAGED. (OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT # 10-0090-89) UPDATED 03/29/11 *BF
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER OF ONE OF THE SEMI TRACTOR TRAILERS WAS TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH WHEN THE GENERATOR ON THE TRUCK FELL OFF WITHOUT WARNING. ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED UP BESIDE THE TRUCK AND ALERTED THE DRIVER THE GENERATOR HAD FALLEN OFF. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE CAST ALUMINUM CLAMP HOLDING THE GENERATOR FRACTURED CAUSING THE GENERATOR TO FALL OFF. THE GENERATOR WEIGHS 500 LBS. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE OWNER OF THE TRUCK THAT THE CLAMPS NEEDED TO BE MADE OF STEEL INSTEAD OF CAST ALUMINUM AND REPLACED THE CLAMP WITH ONE MADE OF STEEL. THE OWNER OF THE TRUCK STATES ALL OF THE TRUCKS HAVE CAST ALUMINUM CLAMPS ON THEM.
