The contact owns a 2014 Infiniti Q50 Hybrid. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the steering wheel was turned left and right; however, the steering wheel failed to function as intended. In addition, several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the steering wheel had seized. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but then became a persistent failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under warranty or special repair programs. In addition, the contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V430000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not covered under the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

ON A USUAL MORNING ON MY WAY TO WORK IN NH DRIVING MY Q50 HYBRID SPORT AND APROX. 2 MILES FROM GETTING OFF THE 93 INTERSTATE MY CAR SUDDENDLY PULL ME FROM THE LEFT LANE TO THE RIGHT ONE! SO HARD, I COULD NOT CONTROL IT AND ENDED UP HITTING THE CONCRETE FENCE ON THE REST LANE. THE CRASH WAS SO BAD THAT CAR SPINS AND STOP RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 2 ONLY LANES OF THAT ROUTE WITH THE WHOLE LEFT DRIVER SIDE OF THE CAR EXPOSED TO THE UPCOMING TRAFFIC. ONE GUY DRIVING A DODGE RAM HIT ME RIGHT IN THE CENTER. I AM VERY LUCKY THAT I HAD MY SEAT BEALT ON AND THE SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. LUCKY ME, I JUST SUFFERED MUSCLE PAIN ON MY LEFT ARM, NECK AND BACK. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND TRAUMATIC. I JUST HAD THE CAR FOR 3 MONTH AND IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MILES PER HOUR ON 4/1/16 IN SOUTHERN WISCONSIN MY Q50 HYBRID WITHOUT ANY WARNING WHATSOEVER SUDDENLY AND VIOLENTLY PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND BEGAN HEAVY SHUTTERING ON THE RIGHT SIDE. I HAD TO AGGRESSIVELY HOLD THE WHEEL BETWEEN THE NINE AND TEN O'CLOCK POSITION TO KEEP THE CAR GOING STRAIGHT AND THE CAR FOUGHT ME AND WANTED TO STRONGLY KEEP PULLING RIGHT. THE RIGHT SIGHT OF THE CAR ALSO FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WERE BEING PULSED OR APPLIED WITHOUT MY INTERVENTION WHICH MADE KEEPING THE CAR IN-LANE EVEN MORE DIFFICULT. THE PULL TO THE RIGHT WAS SO SUDDEN THAT THE CAR WAS DIRECTED INTO THE NEXT LANE - THANKFULLY NO CAR WAS PRESENT. I THOUGHT A TIRE WAS BLOWN OUT SO AFTER PULLING THE CAR OVER FOR INSPECTION ALL 4 TIRES WERE FINE. I TRIED DRIVING THE CAR AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE, SO I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED 90 MILES FOR SERVICE. MY Q50 HAS ABOUT 16,000 MILES AND I AM STILL AWAITING A FULL REPORT FROM THE DEALERSHIP. TEMPERATU

I HAVE OWNED MY CAR FOR ABOUT 2.5 YEARS AND DRIVEN ABOUT 27,000 MILES. IN THIS TIME I HAVE HAD 7 TIRES FAIL. FIVE WERE BLOWOUTS ON THE ROAD AND TWO I CAUGHT WITH BUBBLES IN THE TIRE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A BLOWOUT ON ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE OWNED FOR 35 YEARS. THE TIRES ARE VERY LOW PROFILE AND SEEM TO BE VERY SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE SIDEWALLS FAILING. SEVERAL OF THE BLOWOUTS HAVE HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I WAS GOING 55-65MPH WHICH IS WHY I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT OTHER OWNERS ARE BRINGING IN THE SAME CAR WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND WHEN SPEAKING TO INFINITI CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS COMMON TO OCCUR IN THE NORTHEAST OF THE COUNTRY.

WHEN OUT OF THE CORNER OF MY EYE I NOTICED A YELLOW LIGHT COME ON (WHILE GOING 45-55MPH). WHEN I REALIZED IT WAS THE LIGHT SHOWING THE PASSENGER SEAT EMPTY. I HAD MY FIANC TAKE A PICTURE OF THE DASH SO I WOULD HAVE PROOF FOR INFINITI OF AKRON. THOUGH DUE TO THE FACT SHE COULD NOT ALSO GET HERSELF INTO THE PICTURE. I PROCEEDED TO TAKE ANOTHER PICTURE ( TO WHICH I ATTACHED) TO SHOW THAT SHE WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. I WAS PLACED UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT THIS FAULT WAS NO LONGER POSSIBLE. I HAVE GONE THROUGH RECORDING INCIDENTS WITH A MONITOR IN THE VEHICLE, HAVING A SPECIALIST DRIVE THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL DAYS (AND ALTHOUGH HE DID DRIVE IT FOR A FEW HUNDRED MILES IT WAS MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING AND NOT THE TYPE OF STOP AND GO DRIVING WHERE THE INCIDENTS MORE REGULARLY OCCURRED). AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE RETURNED LAST WEEK I FINALLY DID SOME RESEARCH AND SAW A NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLE (11/07/2014) DESCRIBING A RECALL FOR THE ISSUES I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT. DURING WINTER 2014, I STARTED GETTING AWD / CHASSIS CONTROL ERRORS CONSTANTLY. THE ERROR WOULD SHOW UP AT VARIOUS TIMES, INCLUDING WITHIN 3-5 MIN FROM A COLD START, 10-15 MIN AFTER ENGINE REACHED OPERATING TEMPERATURE, WHILE DRIVING AFTER 20-30 MIN. SOMETIME THE ERROR IS FOLLOWED BY A SURGE IN POWER. EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENS, THE AWD SYSTEM GOES OFFLINE AND THE CAR WORKS IN REAR WHEEL DRIVE ONLY. IN SNOW OR RAIN THE CAR BECOMES DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. THIS PAST WINTER, I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE CAR UP MY DRIVEWAY. AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR, THE ERROR GOES AWAY BUT IN 90% OF THE CASES IF COMES BACK WITHIN A FEW MINUTES. THE CONDITION IS NOT RELATED TO WEATHER (HAPPENED IN WINTER, SPRING AND SUMMER). THE ECU TROUBLE CODE POINTS TO A SOLENOID CONTROLLING THE AWD SYSTEM ON THE CAR. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALER MANY TIMES. ALL THE RECALLS HAVE BEEN RESOLVED, INCLUDING A FEW ECU RECALLS AS I UNDERSTAND. THE DEALER REFUSED TO CHANGE THE POSSIBLE FAULTY SOLENOID SINCE EVERY TIME THEY TESTED T

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 INFINITI Q50 HYBRID. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, WHILE GOING INTO A RIGHT CURVE THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED TO THE LEFT WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL AND ACTIVE LANE CONTROL SYSTEMS WERE ACTIVATED AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. THE DRIVER STATED THAT THE ROADS WERE TREATED DUE TO THE INCLIMATE WEATHER, WHICH HE FELT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,700.
