NHTSA currently has 7 investigation files overlapping the 2000 INFINITI. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. DEAR SIR OR MADAM: I HAVE AN INFINITY Q45 ANNIVERSARY EDITION, YEAR 2000, WITH APPROXIMATELY 90,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING "HARD" FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR FIRST THING IN THE MORNING, WHEN THE CAR IS "COLD". NOTE: THIS HAPPENS IN THE SUMMER ALSO, SO DON'T BE MISLED AND BE AWARE, THIS PHENOMENON STARTED LONG BEFORE 90,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD IT BACK TO THE DEALER A NUMBER OF TIMES; THEY HAVE CHECKED WITH TEST EQUIPMENT AND HAVE EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME THIS IS "NORMAL". I DON'T THINK AN AUTOMOBILE OF THIS CALIBER AND COST SHOULD FEEL LIKE SOMEONE HAS THROWN A "BRICK" IN THE TRANSMISSION AND IT FEELS AS THOUGH IT IS ABOUT TO COME APART. REALLY, THE EFFECT IS VERY DISCONCERTING AND UNNERVING. WHEN I PURCHASED THIS AUTOMOBILE, I WAS CONVINCED TO PURCHASE AN EXPENSIVE 100,000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER SUCH INCIDENTS IF THEY WERE TO OCCUR. IS THE DEALER TRYING TO GIVE ME THE RUN AROUND AND WAITING FOR THE WARRANTY TO EXPIRE? DO THEY KNOW WHA

I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE KEYS NEEDED TO BE RECODED. ON MAY 5TH, 2001, THE CAR (22,574 MILEAGE) WOULD NOT CRANK AGAIN AND THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER PLACED THE GEAR IN NEUTRAL AND IT STARTED. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE THIS FAILURE. ON JUNE 28TH, 2002 (45,367 MILEAGE), THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME BY THE DEALERSHIP. ON NOVEMBER 13TH, 2003 THE CAR WOULD NOT CRANK.
