The 2009INFINITIG37 carries 214 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 7 crashes, 0 fires, 1 injury, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2009 G37 is air bags with 86 filings, followed by engine (21) and unknown or other (20). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 7 investigation files overlapping the 2009 G37. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Our 2009 Infiniti G37x has developed the dreaded sticky dash issue. The materials in the dashboard have broken down, as a result the dashboard has become VERY reflective. It creates a heavy glare on the windshield both day and night which affects our ability to see out of the windshield. The glare makes it very difficult to see a night when street lights and headlights reflect off of the dash. Thankfully there has been no accidents caused by this issue, but this greatly increases the risk of accident when driving this vehicle. This is a common issue among all vehicles from 2009. I had a similar issue with my 2009 Toyota Camry, the dashboard on that vehicle was replaced under recall. Infiniti should be forced to replace the dashboards in these vehicles due to the safety risk they pose. There was a class action lawsuit for owners in Florida to remedy this issue. I attached several pictures of the glare in both day and night conditions. This problem can be easily seen when sitting in the

The dealership sold me a car with a rusted subframe without disclosing the condition of the subframe. The car will not pass inspection because of the subframe. I have had two independent inspection stations tell me this car is unsafe to drive. When I contacted the dealership about this, they said it was my problem, not theirs.
Light blinks for (no airbag on passenger side) working. Light also blinks on dashboard showing no airbags. My car has just over 76,000 miles with meticulous maintenance and no crashes, accidents or even bumps. There are countless complaints, inquiries and threads on the internet regarding the above mentioned problem. I don't know if anyone has taken the time to make an official inquiry but it requires your scrutiny. The fix is a new seat and or an old one that the components still work. There are countless people drivng this vehicle without airbags. We need a fix that won't cost $10,000 (estimate from dealership). Also, where can one find a seat??? Inifinity needs to provide a fix that allows the airbags to function properly without the consumer having to find a new/used seat (and none are available nationwide). The modules are a mere $200 but integrating them into a seat is impossible, so the "fix" is a new seat. This problem exists as the cars age. I project that all inif
Front passenger air bag occupancy sensor failure. Sensor is located on front passages seat and activates or deactivates passenger air bags based on occupancy and or weight. The vehicle has less than 90,000 miles. Passenger airbag/seat belt warning lamp on. Passenger airbag off indicator light remain on even when passenger seated. Repair cost estimated over $5,000. Vehicle will not pass inspection.

I am the original owner of this 2009 G37 sedan with only 12K miles. This car has never been in an accident. It is perfectly maintained and sits in a garage 99% of the time. Last week the airbag light flashed on. The dealer said the error code was B1018 (Occupant Classification Sensor malfunction). The cost of the passenger seat cushion alone is $7,500. This problem was also found on the 2007 & 2008 G37 models and part of a NHTSA recall (#08V521000). I found this problem all over the internet and this NHTSA site for this model year G37. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM. Why isn't this part of the 2007/2008 recall when the sensor is bad in both instances?

The passenger airbag does not work. The light on the dashboard indicated it needed service. When I took it into the dealer, they said it was $7,000 to fix. (More than the car is worth for resale.) After some research, Iâve come across complaints about this on multiple sites & comment boards. This is a serious safety issue. I can no longer have passengers in my car (such as my children). Something has to be done.
Car is parked in open space. Rain occurs throughout the morning and rain water is in the passenger front floor dripping from the A Pillar.
WHEN IT RAINS HEAVY WATER GETS INSIDE THE CAR ON BOTH THE DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGERS SIDE LEAVING THE FLOOR EXTREMELY WET. IT IS GETTING THE WIRES WET. MANY INFINITI OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME THING AND BELIEVE INIFINITI NEEDS TO MAKE A RECALL.

At only 35,500 miles on my 2009 G37 the Passenger Safety Air Bag sensor light continues to blink. Forums are filled with same 2009 passenger safety air bag sensor problems. Infiniti will not cover. Suggested repair is $6,050.00
This vehicle has been in our ownership since July 2011, making us the second owner. Currently there is approximately 92,219 miles on the car. The airbag light began blinking without any incident or accident. We took it to the local dealership this week. We were told the occupant sensor failure code B1018 was the issue. Per their words on our invoice "cannot get sensor from Infiniti. Will need seat bottom to correct the issue." The estimated price for this repair is $6,400. I noticed the same problem was reported in the 2007 and 2008 models, and these models were recalled. So now I have no airbag protection which makes this a safety issue. I have spoke with Infiniti corporate office regarding this issue without any assistance in resolving the problem. In my opinion this is a manufacturing defect just as it was in the 2007 and 2008 models, and should be recalled.
Single owner G37 sedan diagnosed with error code B1018 after reporting a flashing passenger air bag light that suddenly came on. Service provider unbolted seat, disconnected occupant sensor component, cleaned all connections, reconnected and secured so that connector couldn't move. Tried to erase code but unable to do do. Was told I would need a new bottom seat cushion and frame at a cost of approx $3-4k (not including labor). Advised to look at NHSTA for recall information for myself as technician indicated there is no recall for my vehicle. My prior car was a G37 sedan which did have a recall for the exact same issue and it's illogical that this one does not. In reviewing this site, more than 50% of the complaints for this vehicle are tied to the air bags and I stopped reading other complaints when the first five I read all had the exact same issue. Namely, that the light came on suddenly without cause and the only way to correct it, was to replace the seat and sensor. Perso
I was driving at about 65 mph on the tail end of a roughly 2 hour trip. The car shut off on me completely. Fortunately there weren't many cars on the road, so I was able to force the steering wheel - since power steering went out as well, I needed to turn the wheel forcefully - to the shoulder. The brakes worked ok, but not well, again because the engine shut off, so I was forcing the brakes and they took a lot longer to work than normally. Had there been normal to heavy traffic, I'd definitely have been in a very bad crash. The vehicle is available for inspection if needed. This is the second time this situation has occurred to me in this vehicle. There was no warning lamp, message, or symptom prior to or after the incident. A dealer, manufacturer, police, insurance, nor anyone else has inspected or reproduced the problem. Various Infiniti online forums reference the same issue.
