THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO INFINITI OF APEX (1900 LAURA DUNCAN RD, APEX, NC 27523) AND THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED IN MARCH OF 2019; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER BY PHONE AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.

THE FAILURE PRODUCED A GLARE FROM THE BUBBLES, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO SEE OUT OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE WARRANTY WAS EXTENDED AN ADDITIONAL FOUR YEARS AROUND 2006. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT BEING BROUGHT IN AROUND THE TIME OF THE WARRANTY EXTENSION, THEY WERE NO LONGER OBLIGATED TO PROVIDE THE REPAIR FREE OF CHARGE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.

AFTER DISSEMBLING THE ACTUATOR THERE WAS A SMALL PLASTIC PIN THAT BROKE THAT PREVENTED THE LATCH FROM ENGAGING. I THEN HAD TO PAY OVER $400.00 TO HAVE IT REPLACED FOR A PLASTIC PIECE THAT PROBABLY COST LESS THAN $1 TO MANUFACTURE. *TR
