Within that volume, owners reported 20 crashes, 1 fire, 6 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2005 XG350 is air bags with 63 filings, followed by vehicle speed control (36) and power train:automatic transmission (9). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 37 investigation files overlapping the 2005 XG350, and 1 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. The under body frame and oil container rotted and the frame came apart. Problem was noticed with oil change. I noticed that all of these models years were recalled except 2005 ... why not? They were virtually the same car. I want a repair or a rebate for this manufacturer problem since I have less then 100000 miles on this 15 year old car.

1) The vehicle idle is too high. It jerks forward every time I'm at a stop then I want to go forward. I have almost ran into the back of other cars while waiting at a stop sign. 2) The bolts and Subframe is coming detached from the car. It has been confirmed by dealership and franchise auto repair places (2 of them) that the car motor is knocking around and the subframe is loose! I've currently spent over $2000 alone in repairs on the suspension, rack and pinion & oil leak & manifold intake issues since purchase in 2019. Besides the check engine light turning on and off, there was no prior warning of the subframe and/or it's bolts being rusted out prior to purchase or prior to mechanics telling me about this dangerous repair needing done. Why is the 2001-2004 XG350 have recalls on this but not the 2005 year model that is exactly the same specs and materials used as the 2004????????????????????

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 HYUNDAI XG350. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FRAME WAS ROTTING AWAY. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NO LONGER BE DRIVEN. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.

MECHANIC TELLS ME THAT THE FRAME ON MY XG350 2005 IS VERY BADLY RUSTED AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT 100K MILES. ALL OTHER YEARS OF THIS VEHICLE HAVE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE!! WHY NOT THE 2005 MODEL? OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER'S PROBLEM. MANY OTHERS REPORT THE SAME ISSUE. ALSO, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON. I HAVE HAD THIS FIXED ONCE AND IT WAS EXPENSIVE. PROBLEM IS REPORTED MANY TIMES BY OTHER OWNERS.

MY 2005 HYUNDAI XG350 HAS EXPERIENCED SUA, (SUDDEN UNWANTED ACCELERATION) TWICE IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS SAFETY PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED TO HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA AND THE NHTSA TOO MANY TIMES. TWICE, I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKE, THE CAR ACCELERATED AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP IT , EVEN WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE VERY HARD. I WONDER WHY, AFTER SO MANY COMPLAINTS TO HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA AND THE NHTSA, THAT THIS VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE DIDN'T WARRANT A RECALL, SINCE THIS PROBLEM GOES BACK TO 2006.

AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ILLUMINATED SINCE LATE 2013. READING ENTRIES POSTED ON SITE, AND TALKING WITH FORMER HYUNDAI MECHANIC, THIS IS A WIRING HARNESS ISSUE THAT AT LEAST 60 OTHER PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT. ALSO EXPERIENCED THE STEERING ISSUE WHERE THE BOLTS LOCKING THE WHEEL IN PLACE SHEERED OFF, I WAS LUCKY TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY IN 2015 GET IT TO A LOCAL SHOP TO FIX. AS OF 2018 THE STEERING IS PROBLEMATIC AGAIN WITH THE STEERING WHEEL STICKING AND NOW A SQUEAKING NOISE OCCURS WHEN TURNING RIGHT.

2005 HYUNDAI XG350. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO A MALFUNCTION WITH THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM. *AS *TR
THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND WILL NOT EXTINGUISH. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW. THIS HAPPENED UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALERSHIP RESET THE LIGHT. IT CAME ON AGAIN AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND THE DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME TO RESET THE LIGHT. THE LIGHT HAS BEEN RESET MULTIPLE TIMES AND IS NOW ILLUMINATED AND WILL NOT RESET. I AM AFRAID THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT PROPERLY WORK IN AN ACCIDENT.
