SOME PASSENGER VEHICLES CONTAIN A FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY VALVE THAT MAY NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. IF A VEHICLE WITH A FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY VALVE THAT IS NOT PROPERLY CLOSED WERE TO ROLL OVER, FUEL SPILLAGE MAY OCCUR.
I WAS RECENTLY THE VICTIM OF A NEAR CATASTROPHIC MECHANICAL FAILURE WHILE OPERATING MY 2003 HYUNDAI XG350L. I NOTICED THE STEERING PULLING HARD TO ONE DIRECTION, WHICH MADE ME TAKE IT FOR A TIRE INSPECTION. THE INSPECTION REVEALED I NEEDED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE MECHANIC POINTED OUT THAT THE ENTIRE SUB-FRAME WAS CORRODED AND THAT IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, WHILE INVESTIGATING PARTS AND PRICES, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS A STANDING RECALL ON THIS MODEL HYUNDAI FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM I DISCOVERED. I CALLED THE RECALL LINE, RECEIVED A CONFIRMATION NUMBER 11209268 & 3A249831; AN AN APPOINTMENT FOR REPAIR AT HAPPY HYUNDAI. ON MY DRIVE TOWARD THE DEALERSHIP, THE TIRE BEGAN TO RUB INTO THE WHEEL-WELL EACH TIME I HIT A BUMP, BUT I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY SO I HAD TO KEEP GOING TO MY EXIT. AS SOON AS I CAME OUT OF THE EXIT TURN, THE CAR FAILED AND I NARROWLY AVOIDED A SERIOUS CRASH!!!! THE MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT IT WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR. I HAVE HAD A MECHANIC REMOVE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTS AND TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CONVERTERS. THE VEHICLE EXHAUST SYSTEM REACHES OVER 500 DEGREES. I HAVE MEASURED IT WITH A HEAT GUN. WHILE I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROPER TEMPERATURE SHOULD BE I KNOW OVER 500 DEGREES IS WAY TO HIGH. WHILE I WENT TO PICK UP MY HYUNDAI AT THE DEALER HE TOLD ME THEY HAD JUST HAD 2 OTHER VEHICLES XG350'S WITH THE EXACT PROBLEM. PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT GOES OFF DUE TO SOMETHING GETTING TOUCHED UNDER THE SEAT. MANY TIMES WHEN UNDER WARRANTY, THEY RESET IT. BUT IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY I CALLED TO HYUNDAI TO SEE IF THIS IS A DEFECT AND TO SEE IF THE LIGHT ON MEANS THEIR IS NO AIRBAG WORKING AND COMPLAIN THAT IF MY KID PUT HIS FOOT UNDER THE PASSENGER CHAIR OR IF A BOOK WENT UNDER IT, IT SHOULDN'T TRIGGER THE AIRBAG TO SHUT OFF BUT NO ONE EVER GOT BACK TO ME. I CALLED UP THE DEALER AND FOUND OUT THAT THE LIGHT ON DOES MEAN THE AIRBAG IS OFF AND THEY ARE NOT AWARE OF A RECALL BUT THIS HAPPENS A LOT. I THINK IT IS A DEFECT . WHY WOULD MAKE IT SO THAT ANYTHING CAN GET UNDER THE SEAT TO TRIGGER WIRES TO TURN OFF IMPORTANT THINGS.. I WOULD HATE TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT AND NOT HAVE A PASSENGER AIRBAG... THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAILURE WITH THE AIR BAG MODULE AND THEY REPLACED THE SOP MODULE. APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS LATER, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A CONNECTION FAILURE WITH THE SENSOR AND THEY MADE THE REPAIR. APPROXIMATELY FIVE MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY CLEARED THE AIR BAG LIGHT. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE DEALER HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 92,700 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,987.

MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, THE CAR WAS STOPPED, THEN SUDDENLY IT LURCHED BACK, STOPPED THEN LURCHED BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN, FINALLY IT STOPPED. I REPORTED IT TO THE SERVICE PEOPLE AND THEY SAID NO WAY THAT WOULD HAPPEN. LAST SUMMER, IT DID IT AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME IT LURCHED BACK ONLY ONCE. LAST SEPTEMBER, BACKING OUT OF THE GARAGE, I STOPPED, PRESSED HARD ON THE BRAKES TO LET MY WIFE IN. SHE OPENED THE PASSENGER DOOR HALF WAY AND THE CAR LURCHED VIOLENTLY BACKWARD, WITH MY FOOT STILL PRESSED HARD ON THE BRAKES. THAT CAUSED THE DOOR TO PIN MY WIFE AGAINST THE CHIMNEY, THEN SLID AND PINNED HER AGAINST AN OLD REFRIGERATOR STORED IN THE GARAGE. THE CAR HAS A PROBLEM WITH LURCHING/ACCELERATING/JUMPING WHILE THE FOOT PRESSED FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE. I HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME THREE TIMES WITHIN A PERIOD OF TWO YEARS AND 17K MILES AND I WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE IT INTENTIONALLY AFTER A DOZEN TRIES. THE THIRD AND LAST TIME IT HAPPENED IT ALMOST KILLED MY WIFE. I HAD THE CAR IN REVERSE AND THE CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED WITH MY FOOT PRESSED HARD ON THE BRAKES. WHEN MY WIFE OPENED THE PASSENGER DOOR TO GET INTO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR, THE CAR LURCHED VIOLENTLY BACKWARD AND PINNED HER BETWEEN THE DOOR AND A CHIMNEY, THEN PUSHED HER FURTHER BACK AND PRESSED HER AGAINST AN OLD REFRIGERATOR WHICH IS STORED IN THE GARAGE. LUCKILY THE CAR STOPPED. WE HAD TO TAKE MY WIFE TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. SHE SUFFERED SEVERAL BRUISES EXTREME SWELLING AND NEEDED SURGERY TO DRAIN THE FLUIDS IN THE SWELLING AREAS. *NM

THE CAR DOORS LOCKED WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND LEFT RUNNING. MADE 5 COMPLAINTS TO THE MANUFACTURER ALREADY. THE MANUFACTURE SENT SOMEONE TO LOOK AT THE CAR AND SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT, THE TIME LIMIT FOR THE LEMON LAW HAS ALREADY PASSED. THE MANUAL SAYS THAT THE DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. *AK *TT
