Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2014 VELOSTER is engine with 33 filings, followed by electrical system (19) and steering (14). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 2 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 1 investigation file overlapping the 2014 VELOSTER. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

I have not "yet" had an incident but, because of the safety recall, I have been parking my vehicle outside for almost a year (since October 2023). It is now August 2024 and a part for my Hyundai Veloster 2014 is still not available. For an issue that may cause a fire, or indeed any recall issue, this is way too long for a remedy to become available! This has caused considerable inconvenience: scraping frost and cleaning off snow, constant dirt, and inability to park in parking garages. Additionally, the additional wear will reduce the value of the car when I sell it.

The Hyundai recall doesn't fix the problem, which is the ABS Module leaks brake fluid internally which can catch fire. The claimed "fix" puts in a low current fuse that supposedly electrically will lower the risk of a fire when the ABS leaks brake fluid internally and shorts out the electrical power to the ABS Module. The problem is that the ABS Module can develop an internal leak which causes a short that fries the ABS Module and can cause a fire by igniting the brake fluid. The lower current rated fuse can still cause a fire, so I don't see the NHTSA Recall No. 23V651000 as a real fix. I want a replacement of the brake fluid leak-prone ABS Module in my 2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo so I can safely use and park my car indoors without the potential of a fire while parked or driving. I have not experienced a fire in the recalled vehicle, but I think I am entitled to a proper "fix". I am an electrical engineer with an MSEE degree and many US patents. I have been greatly inconvenienced by f

Engine started knocking at 117,xxx miles with oil changes less then 5,000 miles. Dealership acknowledged and confirmed that the rod bearings were bad. If requested could remove the rod bearings. Dealership and corporate Hyundai acknowledged the problem, but would not help cover any of the costs. The vehicle was also losing around 1 quart for every 1,000 miles which was not addressed by the dealer. This is a huge safety risk, if the bearing completely failed the vehicle would have stalled on the interstate. No check engine light is present or was present. The issues with the Veloster Turbo is well know and document from 2012-2017 regarding the failure of rod bearings prematurely. Other Kia and Hyundai vehicles have recalls for this same problem, unfortunately the Veloster does not.
