Within that volume, owners reported 17 crashes, 0 fires, 7 injuries, and 0 fatalities. For crash performance, NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program gave this cohort an overall Not Rated/5 rating, with 5/5 front crash, Not Rated/5 side crash, and 4/5 rollover scores derived from standardized barrier and dynamic tests.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2024 TUCSON is unknown or other with 15 filings, followed by forward collision avoidance: automatic emergency braking (11) and service brakes (9). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 4 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 37 investigation files overlapping the 2024 TUCSON, and 1 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

I was driving on the highway with no one in front of me. The car suddenly slammed on the brakes and flashed "emergency breaking system" on my dash. My car went from about 75 mpg down to 50. The car behind me almost rear-ended me. He then proceeded to pass me and brake check me because he thought I had deliberately brake checked him. This incident caused the man behind me to get road rage and react dangerously to me. I hit the gas and it finally stopped breaking and let me gain speed up again. It was terrifying. This is not the first time this has happened but it was the first time in the highway. It has happened several times on side roads for no reason either. I have an appointment with Hyundai to figure out what they can do because I don't feel safe driving this car.

My 2024 SEL hybrid has a very annoying acceleration delay after a full or partial stop. The delay has occurred many times. It is present no matter which mode the car is on. It is not a matter of slow acceleration, but a 1-2 second delay of anything happening after I press the pedal. this could be a safety issue when you're at a stop sign and you need to proceed and you can't go.

My wife was slowly pulling into a parking spot, when at about 10ft from curb the car suddenly accelerated faster than she even thought the car even was capable of (the AWD likely helped). It hopped the curb and hit a tree. She backed it up to the parking spot (it acted normally) and had it towed to dealer. In hindsight, the car had been having a progressive amount and frequency of delay in normal acceleration, sometimes having a pause of up to second or two from pedal input to car response. We asked the dealer to check the EDR (event data recorder). The tech first said he didn't even know what that was, then that he checked with all his fellow techs and they didn't know either, then the story changed to the model not having an EDR. We politely told him which page in the Hyundai manual he can find it, and he refused to look, as did his boss. Car was transferred to a body shop, and disposition was to total the vehicle. While the body shop was still evaluating the car, we contac

I had to retrieve something from the back of my Hyundai Tucson Hybrid SUV, opened the back door. I retrieved several items and placed them in a safe area. Got back into my vehicle and proceeded to drive into my garage (with the rear door fully open). Next thing I heard was my Tucson crashing into my garage door. I had no warnings, flashing lights or audio sounds nothing that would help me avoid that collision. The reason I purchased this particular vehicle was because it comes with sensors and cameras completely around the vehicle (including the rear). In fact on the rear door is sensor and a camera. In fact I can park the Tucson out of the vehicle. The sensors will ensure that it will not collide with anything. Same is true in a very tight parking spot. Anyway the other 4 passenger doors have several warning signals. From low ibeeping to very loud annoying audio sounds that you cannot ignore. Iâve contacted Hyundai Motor America and theyâve denied my complaint. They claim that the
I was rear-ended at an extremely high speed by an intoxicated driver. The impact from being rear-ended pushed my vehicle into another car, damaging the front and rear of my vehicle. My car was a 2024 Tucson with 14,646 miles in perfect condition. No warning lights were on the vehicle, as I consistently take excellent care of my cars. The airbags did not deploy. My car was totaled. I had several injuries from the accident.
At high speeds above 40 MPH vehicle automatically brakes with no vehicle or objects in front while vehicle is in operation. Very concerning when driving on interstate.

The panoramic sunroof in my 2024 Hyundai Tucson Limited shattered while driving on the interstate. It sounded like an explosion and frightened me while driving. I was able to maintain control of my vehicle, and fortunately, my headliner was closed, preventing glass from falling on me. The flying debris created a hazard for other drivers. I took my vehicle to the Hyundai dealership where I purchased it, and I am awaiting a response from the Service Manager for repair. The vehicle is less than a year old and has less than 9,000 miles on it.

The contact owned a 2024 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated that his wife was reversing out of the work parking space, the brake pedal was depressed, and when the gear shift was shifted into drive(D), the vehicle then accelerated independently. The contact stated that the engine revved, hit a parked vehicle, bounced off that vehicle, and continued to accelerate independently, abruptly veered the steering wheel to the left to avoid hitting a tree. The contact's vehicle then hit a second parked vehicle, where it came to a stop. No warning lights were illuminated, and none of the warning alarms sounded. The driverâs and passengerâs side air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries sustained. The insurance company was notified and towed the vehicle to a collision center. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,000.

My a/c system has a strong mold/mildew smell. The dealership flushed the system and said a bunch of black mold came out. It has been 3 months and the issue is back. It canât possibly be safe and healthy to be constantly breathing in mold spores. I have seen a ton of other owners complaining about the same issue. I definitely think the a/c drain design is faulty in some regard.
On multiple occasions the vehicle has not transferred from EV to mechanical mode and has stalled out. Shutting the car and restarting it resolved the problem each time. Hyundai has not been able to find the fault after multiple trips to the dealership and no code is recorded or reported. I bought a code reader and the last time this occurred recorded a code. P1120 $07e8Pd I brought the car back into Hyundai and reported the code to- It was not saved in the car's memory. They have had the car for over 3 weeks now and repairs have not been completed.

My wife and I purchased a 2024 Hyundai Tucson in June. Since February 28, 2025 the SRS indicator lights have come on twice. Hyundai replaced the airbag twice. In March, the emergency brake system red lights illuminated, and the car came to an abrupt stop. Luckily, there were no Cars behind me. Seconds later, the car resumed, and the lights disappeared. Hyundai dealership took the car in and returned it in two hours noting they could not duplicate. Several days ago, the same thing happened with the emergency brake system. Driving at approximately 40 mph the car slammed on brakes and the dash illuminated again. No cars behind me. The dealership returned the car once again, noting they could not duplicate.  The car has less than 8000 miles.  I wonât allow my wife to drive more than 10 miles alone.  Itâs unsafe. The manual states the car is not to be driven with any of the sys indicators on and to do so would cause serious injury or damage to the car.  I will send att
