The 2015HYUNDAIGENESIS carries 405 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 14 crashes, 2 fires, 15 injuries, and 0 fatalities. For crash performance, NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program gave this cohort an overall 5/5 rating, with 5/5 front crash, 5/5 side crash, and 5/5 rollover scores derived from standardized barrier and dynamic tests.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2015 GENESIS is electrical system with 104 filings, followed by exterior lighting (41) and engine (40). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 6 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 37 investigation files overlapping the 2015 GENESIS, and 1 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

While driving approximately 35â40 mph, the steering wheel locked unexpectedly. My [XXX] child was in the vehicle at the time. I was nearly unable to control the vehicle, creating a serious risk of a crash or fatal injury. The vehicle has a long history of electrical problems including repeated battery failures and a prior transmission replacement. Due to the steering failure, the vehicle is unsafe to operate and has not been driven since the incident. No warning lights were observed prior to the steering failure. The vehicle exhibits a severe vibration and shaking at normal highway speeds, most notably around 70â80 mph. The condition is repeatable and occurs during steady freeway driving. The vibration is strong enough that the vehicle feels unstable and unsafe to operate at typical highway speeds. This condition significantly affects safe freeway operation. Due to the severity of the shaking, I no longer feel comfortable or safe driving the vehicle at or above normal traffic speeds, which increases risk when merging, maintaining speed with traffic, or responding to road conditions. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by authorized dealerships. Multiple inspections and repair attempts have been performed over several months for the same vibration concern. Major drivetrain components, including the rear differential and driveshaft, were replaced, but the vibration remains unresolved. The servicing dealer has stated they do not have a further diagnostic path and are unable to contin

My car has previously been reported for having issues with electrical problems that I have had to fight the manufacturer to get repaired unsuccessfully.I am constantly experiencing and smelling burning in my dash when I crank the car. Car is no longer under warranty, so therefore, I cannot afford to continue to go in and report the same problem over and over again. My turn signal bulbs are constantly blowing, and I'm having to replace them at a rate that is not normal.I'm sure this is all related.

I sent a letter to the Hyundai Motor America LEGAL DEPARTMENT on 2 Jan 25. I see this as a major concern and safety problem for my grand kids, my family and myself. My car is a 2015 Hyundai Genesis VIN#: [XXX] four door sedan. The back left side passenger door coupler and handle have broken off the car between April and August 2025. Iâve called and spoken with the Hyundai dealership in Colonial Heights, VA about fixing the back coupler and handle. The Hyundai dealership informed me that all they needed to do is to order a new back door coupler and have it painted. After that, then they will call me once theyâve received the back door coupler and have it painted. Once everything is done, they will give me a call to schedule an appointment to have the back door coupler and handle to be put back on the left side passenger car door. Iâve scheduled the appointment to have the back door coupler and handle to be put back on the car. Everything was completed. Now, the back right side pa
So there are TWO main points of concern on this vehicle, number 1 being the steering racks. Many other people have had the same issue as myself. Steering rack completely shut down about a year ago on the freeway, rendering my steering completely useless which was extremely dangerous. 8K repair bill that Hyundai will not acknowledge. Now that comes to my 2ND point, the oil pressure sensor switch. Itâs more common than the steering racks. Many owners are reporting it as low at 40-50K miles, yet thereâs an open recall in Korea for this exact problem. But the USA does not get any acknowledgment for it??? Yet another costly repair due to defective engineering. Might I add as well, the transmissions Prior to 2018 no matter if youâve had them replaced, they end up failing and people get absolutely 0 help with them. Itâs ridiculous and these issue can eventually cost someone their life some day.

Vehicle: 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan (3.8L) Issue Type: Exterior Lighting / Electrical System Description of the Problem: I am reporting an intermittent electrical failure affecting the rear lighting and backup safety systems on my 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The vehicleâs reverse lights, tail lights, and backup camera intermittently fail and flicker, especially when the trunk is opened or moved. This behavior has worsened over time. The failure appears to be related to wiring in the trunk area, as opening or closing the trunk causes the lights and camera to flicker or stop functioning. This issue affects multiple systems simultaneously, including: â¢Reverse (backup) lights â¢Tail lights â¢Backup camera License plate lighting The reverse lights and backup camera sometimes do not function at night, and the tail lights may flicker or go out. Safety Incident / Near Miss: At night, while backing up, I nearly struck a pedestrian because: â¢I could not clearly see behind

The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that while stopped at a stop light, the oil warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, and the vehicle started to sputter and then stalled. The contact restarted the vehicle and drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic. The mechanic diagnosed the vehicle with a defective oil pressure sensor, and the contact was informed that the oil pressure sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to a local dealer for another diagnostic test. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.

The paint on my hood & fenders is falling off rapidly causing a not so good look for the Genesis brand.
The contact owns a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. The contact stated that while stopped at a red light, the vehicle started shaking with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle accelerated but failed to exceed 20 MPH. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and shifted into park(P). The vehicle was restarted, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where a handheld diagnostic machine retrieved DTC: P2106, P0638, and P2110. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the throttle body and the foot control throttle needed to be replaced. The contact was also advised by the mechanic that there may be an electrical system issue with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired, but the codes were reset. The contact took the vehicle to the residence and replaced the throttle body and the foot control throttle, but the failure persisted. The manuf
