Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2010 GENESIS is service brakes with 25 filings, followed by electrical system (13) and exterior lighting (11). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 3 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.
NHTSA currently has 37 investigation files overlapping the 2010 GENESIS, and 1 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

While attempting to brake on exit ramp off an interstate highway, the brake pedal was depressed almost to the floorboard with minimal slowing. The brakes were pumped several times with slowing vehicle speed. Fortunately, the exit ramp was long enough to allow a safe stop. Pedal remains soft and spongy. No warning lights are on. Brakes functioned normally until this incident at 138,200 miles. However, master cylinder was replaced at 102,000 miles for a similar problem at an independent auto shop. I am awaiting a dealer repair time. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

WHILE DRIVING MY GENESIS 2010 SEDAN, THE BATTERY LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THEN THE POWER STEERING DID NOT RESPOND. I WAS ABOUT 1/2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE AND I HAD TO WRESTLE WITH MY STEERING WHEEL UNTIL I GOT HOME. THE SCARY PART WAS THAT I UNEXPECTEDLY LOST POWER STEERING DURING A TURN AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT. LUCKILY, NO ON COMING TRAFFIC WAS NEAR AS I COMPLETED THE TURN ON THE OPPOSITE SLIDE OF THE STREET. I FORTUNATELY ARRIVE HOME, PARKED THE VEHICLE AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE MECHANICS. I LEARNED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT AND SO DID THE BATTERY. LUCKLY, DURING THE TURN I DID NOT CRASH, BUT IT WAS VERY NERVOUS THE REST OF THE WAY.
