GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING 1,738 MY 2009 HUMMER H3T VEHICLES. SOME OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH THE FUEL TANK FRONT SUPPORT STRAP MAY FRACTURE. IF THIS OCCURS, THE FUEL TANK WOULD BE SUPPORTED BY THE REAR SUPPORT STRAP AND STONE SHIELD ONLY. CONTINUED USE OF THE VEHICLE MAY EVENTU

20170801ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

I OWN A 2009 HUMMER H3T THAT HAD A RECALL FOR A BLOWER RESISTOR AND HARNESS ASSEMBLY DEFECT THAT COULD CATCH FIRE. I HAVE HAD THE SAME HARNESS AND RESISTOR REPLACED TWICE NOW FOR THE SAME REASON OF MELTING. I HAVE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN VERY HELPFUL IN RESOLVING THIS PROBLEM. THEY ARE TELLING ME SINCE I HAVE HAD THE RECALL COMPLETED WHICH REALLY WASN'T THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. BACK GROUND HISTORY IS THE ITEMS FIRST FAILED IN 2013 AND I PAID TO HAVE THEM REPLACED. THE RECALL CAME OUT AND THEY COUNTED THE PREVIOUS REPAIR AS THE FIX. EVEN THOUGH THE MANUFACTURING DATE OF THE HARNESS THAT JUST FAILED AGAIN WAS 2012. THEY WILL NOT TELL ME IF THE RECALL PRODUCED A REDESIGNED PART OR NOT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THAT TO MAKE SURE I HAVE THE CORRECT PARTS INSTALLED OR DEFECTIVE ONES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

I TURNED OFF THE A/C BLOWER (WHICH WAS NOW NOT WORKING) AND TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL A/C REPAIR STATION FOR AN ESTIMATE. THE VEHICLE WAS PAST WARRANTY SO THE REPAIR STATION REPLACED THE MELTED BLOWER MOTOR, RESISTOR AND HARNESS USING GENUINE GM PARTS. THIS IS THE FIRST INCIDENT AND PERTAINS TO GM RECALL #15042, NTHSA CAMPAIGN ID 15V421. ON AUGUST 13, 2015 THE BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP THAT REPLACED THE FIRST MOTOR AND WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT A RECALL FOR THIS HAD BEEN ISSUED. I PHONED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THEY HAVE NO PARTS FOR THIS RECALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY BECAME AVAILABLE. I CALLED GM DIRECT AND WAS ON HOLD FOR 90 MINUTES BEFORE GIVING UP. ON CERTAIN DAYS THE BLOWER MOTOR WOULD WORK AND SOMETIMES IT WOULD QUIT RANDOMLY WHILE OPERATING. UPON INSPECTION I DISCOVERED THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR HAD BECOME HOT AND MELTED TO THE CONNECTOR CAUSING CHAR TO BUILD UP INSIDE THE CONNECTION. *TR

WAS FORCED TO CUT AIRBAGS OFF CEILING TO SEE OUT, AND DRIVE VEHICLE TO CLOSEST GARAGE. INCIDENT WAS CAPTURED ON VIDEO BY PASSENGER USING A GOPRO CAMERA, SHOWING THE EXTERIOR CONDITIONS AND LACK OF TERRAIN RELATED CAUSES. MULTIPLE OTHER HUMMER H3 OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR INCIDENTS, AND I WILL BE LOOKING INTO LEGAL ACTION IF THIS ISSUE ISN'T RESOLVED. *TR
