Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2010 H3 is electrical system with 4 filings, followed by visibility (1) and structure (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 2 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 2 investigation files overlapping the 2010 H3. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

My transfer case established a large fluid leak so I inspected it, the findings was a large hole in the main housing on the transfer case fluid was leaking out. The transfer case was removed and disassembled, and found that the 2 screws that hold the chain guide to the housing had backed out or fell out and let the chain guide fall down in to the gear mechanism and ground it up and broke the main case. In result was the quarter size hole in the housing of the transfer case allowing liquid to escape and damage the housing. Leaving me without a vehicle.

THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES WILL NOT START DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THE SECURITY SENSOR IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THIS IS WHEN STARTING UP THE VEHICLE AND WILL ONLY PERIODICALLY OCCUR. THE SECURITY SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON AND YOU HAVE TO WAIT 10 MINUTES TO START THE VEHICLE, THEN IT WILL START. IT HAS HAPPENED IN THE SUMMER AND NOW THE WINTER.

MY HEATING AND AC BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED WORKING ON A VEHICLE THAT HAS LESS THAN 31K MILES ON IT. THE ESTIMATED REPAIR COSTS ARE 500$, NOT INCLUDING THE TOW, BEING THAT IT IS THE MIDDLE OF WINTER AND THE CLOSEST DEALERSHIP IS 20 MILES AWAY. ADDITIONALLY, THE TIME OFF OF WORK AND EBING WITHOUT A CAR FOR A WEEK. I HAVE HEAVILY RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND IT HAS BEEN REPORTED THOUSANDS OF TIMES AND IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE AND GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. THE PROBLEM IS THAT A FAULTY ELECTRICAL SHORT CAUSES A WIRING HARNESS TO MELT, (SMOKING) WITH A BURNING SMELL AND BLACK RESIDUE. THIS IS A MAJOR FIRE HAZARD AND THE RECOMMENDED FIX FROM THE DEALERSHIP ONLY REPLACES THE HARNESS, BUY DOES NOT ADDRESS THE CORE ISSUE CAUSING THE FIRE HAZARD. THIS IS LIKE REPLACING BURNT DRYWALL TO ADDRESS FAULTY HOUSE WIRING . *TR

I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE FAN ON THE A/C STOPPED WORKING. SHORTLY AFTERWARD I DETECTED A BURNING ODOR. I ENDED UP REPLACING THE RESISTOR AND WIRING HARNESS FOR THE A/C BLOWER MOTOR. THE RESISTOR WAS BURNT AND THE HARNESS WIRE WAS SLIGHTLY MELTED. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE POTENTIAL FOR A FIRE IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN. *TR
