Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.

NHTSA currently has 2 investigation files overlapping the 2003 H2 SUT. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. STARTED SMELLING STRONG FUEL SMELLS SO TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER. DEALER CALLED AND ASKED ME TO STOP BACK BECAUSE WHEN THEY DROPPED FUEL TANK THEY DISCOVERED FUEL LINES RUNNING FROM GAS TANK WERE SO BADLY CORRODED THROUGH THAT WERE SPRAYING PIN-STREAMS OF RAW GAS ALL OVER THE UNDERSIDE OF MY VEHICLE. SAID IT WAS A MIRACLE I DID NOT EXPLODE OR CATCH FIRE. MECHANIC THEN ASKED ME TO ALSO LOOK AT EVERY BRAKE LINE ON THE TRUCK WHICH WERE ALSO SO BADLY CORRODED AND DETERIORATING THAT HE SAID THEY WERE A REAL DANGER AS WELL AND ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ASAP AT HUGE EXPENSE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN CAREFULLY MAINTAINED, ALWAYS CLEANED AND SERVICED AND SOUTHERN OHIO (WHERE I LIVE) IS NOT AN ESPECIALLY HOSTILE OR CORROSIVE ENVIRONMENT. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK NEW AND IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY IN THIS FAIRLY BENIGN ENVIRONMENT. THIS SEEMS SUSPICIOUS AND IS TOTALLY UNEXPECTED. *TR

WHILE DRIVING THE WASHER MOTOR WENT ON AND JUST KEPT RUNNING. IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF. I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE FUSES. AFTER SEARCHING I FOUND OUT THERE WAS AN INITIAL RECALL IN 2003 ON A FEW THOUSAND 2003 H2 WASHER/WIPER MOTORS WHICH APPARENTLY MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. NOW I SEE A MORE RECENT RECALL NHTSA 08V456000 STATING 13,000 VEHICLES INCLUDED AND MY DEALER STILL SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL. I SEE ON MANY FORUMS CUSTOMERS STATING THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND DEALERS SAYING THEIR VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. SOME SAY THEIR MOTORS CAUSED FIRES IN THEIR ENGINES AND NOW IM CONCERNED WITH DRIVING. *TR
