Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 77 investigation files overlapping the 2001 V SERIES, and 9 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. WE WERE DRIVING AT ABOUT 20 MI PER HOUR BEHIND AN SUV THAT WAS BEHIND A GARBAGE TRUCK THAT WAS STOPPING AT EVERY CORNER. WHEN THE GARBAGE TRUCK STOPPED AS DID THE SUV THE NEXT TIME - WE WERE ALMOST 2 CAR LENGTHS BEHIND -MY HUSBAND PUT HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR DID NOT STOP. WE HEARD A WHIRRING NOISE AND THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD AT INCREDIBLE SPEED HITTING THE REAR OF THE SUV. AT THAT POINT THE GARBAGE TRUCK MOVED ON AND THE SUV DISAPPEARED QUICKLY AROUND THE NEXT CORNER. DAMAGE TO MY CAR - DENTED HOOD, CRACKED GRILL AND CRACKED BUMPER. SOMETHING SIMILAR HAPPENED 2 YEARS AGO. I HAD BARELY STARTED THE CAR, WAS LEAVING FOR WORK WHEN A RED LIGHT CAME UP ON THE DASH. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND INSTEAD OF STOPPING THE CAR LUNGED FORWARD AT INCREDIBLE SPEED AND PLOWED INTO THE REAR OF MY NEIGHBORS PARKED TRUCK (HIS TRUCK WAS BARELY TWO DOORS DOWN FROM
