ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE MAIN WIRE HARNESS HAS A GROUND DISTRIBUTION CONNECTOR THAT IS INCORRECTLY ASSEMBLED. SOME ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS MAY OVERHEAT AND SHORT, INCLUDING THE FUEL PUMP.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ST1300 MOTORCYCLE. WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE FLUID LEVELS IN THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WERE LOW. THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF A FLUID LEAK. WHILE RIDING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD POPPING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE BIKE AND THE REAR BRAKES SUDDENLY BECAME INOPERABLE. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS NO BRAKE FLUID PRESENT IN THE BRAKE RESERVOIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ST1300 MOTOTRCYCLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REPLACING THE TIRES, HE NOTICED THAT THE REAR WHEEL BEARING WAS VERY ROUGH. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN OVER THE POSSIBLE SEIZING OF THE REAR WHEEL. THE BIKE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR WHEEL BEARING WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BEARING WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE HAD SINCE RECURRED. THE BIKE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AFTER EACH FAILURE, WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,895 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 143,500. THE DRIVE HUB BEARINGS HAVE BEEN REPLACED SIX TIMES. UPDATED 11/02/11

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 HONDA ST 1300 MOTORCYCLE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE THE BRAKE SYSTEM LOCKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE MOTORCYCLE WENT INTO A TAIL SPIN. HOWEVER, THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND STOP THE MOTORCYCLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 11500. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE DEALER INFORMED HIM A REAR CALIPER BOLT HAD BECOME LODGE INTO THE BRAKE SYSTEM CAUSING THE BRAKES TO LOCK UP. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM DID NOT REOCCUR AND THE TIRES WERE CHANGED ON THE MOTORCYCLE PRIOR TO INCIDENT. UPDATED 07/17/07 *TR
