New Car Assessment Program
The 2022HONDANAVI carries 4 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 3 crashes, 0 fires, 0 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2022 NAVI is engine with 2 filings, followed by vehicle speed control (1) and unknown or other (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 77 investigation files overlapping the 2022 NAVI, and 9 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Multiple times while driving the engine has died. Each time, upon inspection, the spark plug wire has been found disconnected from the boot over the spark plug. Upon reconnecting it (which is difficult due to its location) the issue has been remedied. I believe the spark plug wire/boot should be a different design, probably one piece instead of two. In online forums I have discovered that multiple other owners have had the same problem. I believe that hitting small bumps over time slowly causes the wire to slide out from the boot. The 2022 model is the first model to be sold in the U.S. I have not contacted a dealer yet for a repair, however I do believe the nature and scope of this issue strongly warrants recall consideration. Thank you.
