Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2003 FSC600 is steering: steering wheel/handle bar with 1 filings, followed by fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly (1) and structure:motorcycle:kickstand/center stand (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 3 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 77 investigation files overlapping the 2003 FSC600, and 9 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Recalls (3)

04V29000025/06/2004

STRUCTURE:MOTORCYCLE:KICKSTAND/CENTER STAND

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE MAIN STAND IS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME WITH TWO BRACKETS, NUTS AND BOLTS. THE NUTS ARE SPOT-WELDED TO THE BRACKETS. IF CLEARANCE EXISTS BETWEEN THE NUT AND BRACKET, THE SPOT WELDS MAY BE BROKEN WHEN THE BOLT IS TORQUED.

04V16300012/04/2004

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY

ON CERTAIN SCOOTERS, SOME FUEL TANKS WERE IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED AND DO NOT MEET MATERIAL STRENGTH SPECIFICATIONS.

03V51300010/12/2003

STEERING: STEERING WHEEL/HANDLE BAR

ON CERTAIN SCOOTERS, EXCESSIVE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE LOWER HANDLEBAR CLAMP AND HANDLEBAR HOLDER CREATES STRESS THAT CAN EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE HANDLEBAR TO LOOSEN OR DETACH.

PURCHASED VEHICLE NEW FROM SCHRODER'S HONDA. AFTER THE PURCHASE TRANSACTION WAS COMPLETE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WERE 3 RECALLS THAT NEED TO BE PERFORMED, WE SCHEDULED A DATE TO DO THEM AT THAT TIME. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO DO THE RECALLS THEY WERE TOO BUSY TO DO THEM AND RESCHEDULED. THE SECOND TIME THERE, THEY ALLEGEDLY PERFORMED 2 OF THE 3 RECALLS. ONE OF THEM WAS REPLACING THE HANDLEBAR MOUNTS TO PREVENT THEM FROM COMING LOOSE. THEY DIDN'T DO ALL THREE BECAUSE THEY FORGOT TO ORDER THE PARTS. THE NEXT MORNING WHILE RIDING, MY HANDLEBARS CAME LOOSE. I PULLED THE COVER OFF TO FIND OUT THAT THEY FORGOT TO TIGHTEN 2 OF THE 4 BOLTS THAT HELD THEM ON TO THE BIKE. I CALLED THE DEALER ABOUT IT AND THE SERVICE MANAGER DIDN'T EVEN APOLOGIZE OR ATTEMPT TO MAKE THE PROBLEM RIGHT. AT THAT POINT I DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THAT SERVICE DEPARTMENT PERFORMING THE FINAL RECALL, SO I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER HONDA DEALER. THEY CANNOT PERFORM THE RECALL THOUGH BECAUSE SCHRODER'S
