The 2014HONDACROSSTOUR carries 44 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 2 crashes, 0 fires, 5 injuries, and 0 fatalities. For crash performance, NHTSA's New Car Assessment Program gave this cohort an overall Not Rated/5 rating, with Not Rated/5 front crash, Not Rated/5 side crash, and 4/5 rollover scores derived from standardized barrier and dynamic tests.

Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2014 CROSSTOUR is electrical system with 8 filings, followed by engine (6) and unknown or other (4). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability. This model year has 3 active recall campaigns, which means the manufacturer is obligated to remedy the covered defect at no charge for the life of the vehicle — the full NHTSA campaign numbers are listed below.

NHTSA currently has 77 investigation files overlapping the 2014 CROSSTOUR, and 9 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

I first experienced the ABS, Traction Control, and Brake warning lights on December 20, 2025, while driving. I knew something was wrong because whenever I turned the steering wheel, braked hard, or drove over potholes, all three lights would come on and remain lit for about a minute. Each time I turned the car off and restarted it, the lights would disappear. However, if I drove the vehicle for an extended period, the lights would eventually come back on. At first, I believed the issue was related to my brakes. I ordered new brakes and rotors and had them installed by my certified mechanic. Unfortunately, about an hour after the repair, the ABS, Traction Control, and Brake lights came on again. I immediately contacted my mechanic and brought the vehicle back in for a diagnostic test. The diagnostic results showed that the ABS module is faulty. My mechanic explained that this malfunction is what is causing all three warning lights to appear on my dashboard. I was advised that the ABS

I am having problems with my car starting… even after replacing the starter 3 times. I am having the exact issue referenced in TSB No.16-002. I can hear the grinding noise but due to the incorrect positioning of the torque converter ring gear, the starter isn’t spinning the engine at startup even after replacing the starter. I can’t afford to keep replacing the starter and have my car not start everyday. Is Honda able to help with this issue?

The rear camera, backup camera appears to have bad seal. The inside fogs up. Blurring the camera image. This eventually leads to failure. I had the Honda dealer replace my previous original camera at my expense, a year later the same problem has arisen. The Camera mounted on the passenger side mirror does not have this issue and seems to be a different model camera.

FDW, LDW, TRAC, and ABS lights are on. Honda Service center ran a diagnostic check and recommended replacing VSA Modulator. Issue is common and is due to VSA modulator having small gauge wires. It is a design defect causing many VSA modulators to fail. Repair costs include $1,952 for the modulator plus labor. I ordered a replacement part in June 2023, but it has not yet arrived. I searched online. A YouTube video named "Why is this not a recall by Honda? ABS module Failure 2013 to 2017 and more" explains the issue. The YouTube video is posted by RB the mechanic. The comments under the video are from some people who encountered the same issue. It is an issue in a variety if Honda vehicles.

The car is rusting on the inside door panel. This is being caused because the undercoating from the mafia missed spots under the rear wheel well. This is clearly a mafia defect. No one at Honda is willing to help. They blame it on the seat belt causing it to rust. The car only leaks when driving because the water enters the car when the wheels are moving. Other Crosstour owners are having the same problem.

ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) FAILED WHILE DRIVING (65 MPH) ON THE INTERSTATE (I29, 1/22/21). IMMEDIATELY DROVE VEHICLE TO HONDA DEALER AND CODE WAS RESET. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE AND EPS FAILED AGAIN. DIAGNOSTIC SCAN (CODES 51-07 & 51-01) REVEALED A FAULTY TORQUE SENSOR, WHICH WAS REPLACED ($1,485). EPS FAILED AGAIN ON 2/22/21 WHILE TURNING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT (25 MPH) AND NEARLY WRECKED THE VEHICLE DUE TO LOSS OF POWER STEERING. DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND AWAITING A RESPONSE. THERE ARE TSBS (EPS WARRANTY EXTENSION) ISSUED BY AMERICAN HONDA BUT THE DEALER HAS NOT RECOGNIZED THESE COMMUNICATIONS.
