The 2020HONDACRF1100A carries 10 consumer safety complaints in NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation database for this specific model-year cohort. Within that volume, owners reported 0 crashes, 0 fires, 0 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2020 CRF1100A is fuel/propulsion system with 6 filings, followed by engine (3) and electrical system (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 77 investigation files overlapping the 2020 CRF1100A, and 9 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. Use the related-complaint feed below to read raw owner narratives before deciding whether any pattern here affects your specific use case.

While traveling at 45mph in traffic engine shuts off causing bike to decelerate rapidly almost getting rear ended. I have read many post of this same thing happening with others.
Bike will Stall occasional from a stop while trying to accelerate under light throttle. Just had a stall in heavy traffic waiting on a light to turn left off The Las Vegas Strip.. not cool, don't think its a DTC issue I think its the engine mapping, funny thing is when I had started the bike while I suited up it stalled while idling just 5 min before. I always ride S3/Urban in the city. Had a stall a few weeks back after a long highway ride in S3/Tour, same deal, waiting for a light to turn left. Just over 3200 Miles on it. Have had 4 stalls total.
experiencing the Fuel Starvation issue. While riding and throttle applied , the engine sputters and will not accelerate. Puts you in a dangerous situation while in traffic.
LOST OF POWER ON HIGHWAY AND WHEN STRUCK IN CITY TRAFFIC, USUALLY OCCURS WITH LESS THAN HALF A TANK OF GAS AND WHEN THE TEMPERATURES ARE ABOVE 90F. ENGINE STALLS AS IF STARVED OF FUEL.

MOTORCYCLE IS ONLY 6 MONTHS OLD WITH ABOUT 7,200 MILES. CRUISING ON I-75 NEAR OCALA FL AT HIGHWAY SPEED, THE ENGINE BEGAN SPUTTERING AND STALLING. FRIGHTENING SAFETY THREAT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. HAD TO PULL OFF ROAD AND HAVE MOTORCYCLE TOWED TO NEAREST DEALER. I WAS 300 MILES FROM HOME AND INCURRED HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OF EXPENSE. I UNDERSTAND THIS HAPPENS TO MANY OTHER LIKE MODELS. APPARENTLY THE COATING INSIDE THE GAS TANK DETERIORATES AND CLOGS THE FUEL FILTER AND PUMP. HONDA IS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT WILL ONLY HAVE THE DEALER CLEAN THE TANK AND REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. THIS WILL LIKELY HAPPEN AGAIN SINCE THE SYMPTOM, NOT THE PROBLEM, WAS REPAIRED. HONDA SHOULD BE REDESIGNING A REPLACEMENT TANK AND RECALL THE MOTORCYCLES FOR A LONG TERM SOLUTION.

BRAND NEW BIKE WITHIN THE FIRST COUPLE HUNDRED MILES I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING "FLAME OUT" ISSUES ON THE BIKE. INTERMITTENTLY IF THE THROTTLE IS BLIPPED ON A DOWN SHIFT TO REV MATCH THE ENGINE IT WILL STALL OUT OR "FLAME OUT" THIS IS TYPICALLY WHILE RIDING DOWN THE STREET. PULL THE CLUTCH IN, DOWN SHIFT AND BLIP THE THROTTLE TO REV MATCH AND SOMETIMES IT STALLS OUT. I CAN ALSO GET THIS TO HAPPEN SITTING IN NEUTRAL BY REVVING THE BIKE. AS OF 2,000 MILES THE BIKE NOW HAS NO POWER NO MATTER HOW MUCH THROTTLE I GIVE IT. MY DEALER HAD HONDA REP COME LOOK AT IT AND HE WAS ABLE TO RECREATE THE ISSUES TWICE IN THE SHOP. HE ALSO STATED HE BELIEVED THE INSIDE OF THE TANK WAS FLAKING. HONDAS SOLUTION IS TO CLEAN THE TANK AND REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP I AM WAITING FOR THE DEALER TO GET THE PARTS IN FOR REPAIR. I HAVE READ OF MANY MANY OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND WANTED TO REPORT MINE. VERY VERY VERY FRUSTRATING THIS IS HAPPENING AFTER SPENDING ALMOST 20K ON A BRAND NEW BIKE. *TR

WHILE I WAS DRIVING I WENT TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN I APPLIED THE THROTTLE THE POWER CUT OUT AND IT WAS BUCKING AND POWER WAS SURGING. MY FUEL TANK WAS FULL THIS IS A NEW MOTORCYCLE WITH 1000 MILES ON IT. SINCE I WAS AWAY FROM HOME I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I MADE THE PURCHASE AND THEY HAD A SERVICE REP TALK TO ME. THEIR THOUGHTS WERE FUEL FILTER OR PUMP. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON A FORUM FOR HONDA MOTORCYCLES, AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM IN LOTS OF THIS MODEL MOTORCYCLE. OTHERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE HAVE REPORTED A MANUFACTURING ISSUE WITH THE WELDS USED TO MAKE THE TANK ARE DIRTY AND THE SLAG COMES OFF CAUSING THE FUEL FILTER TO CLOG ULTIMATELY CAUSING THE MOTORCYCLE TO LOSE POWER AND BECOME ERRATIC WHICH HAPPENED TO ME. THIS PUT MY LIFE IN SERIOUS JEOPARDY AND STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.
