THIS IS MY FIRST INSTANCE:I WAS RIDING ON THE 2 FREEWAY, AROUND 65MPH AND WHEN I TRIED TO OVERTAKE A SLOWER CAR, I OPENED UP THE TROTTLE AND THE BIKE LUGGED, AND SHOOK, LOSING POWER. STEADILY THE BIKE KEPT LOSING POWER UNTIL IT WAS NOT SAFE. I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS FAST AS I COULD BECUASE THERE WAS NO MORE POWER, AND CARS WERE FAST BEHIND ME. SECOND INSTANCE WAS WHILE RIDING ON THE 1 FREEWAY IN BAJA, AGAIN IWAS RIDING AROUND 65MPH AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED, I OPENED UP THE THROTTLE AND THE BIKE STARTED LOOSING POWER AND SHAKING ABRUPTLY. IT HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES. 1 IN LOS ANGELES AND 2 ON THE MEXICAN FREEWAYS. VERY UNSAFE. I AM STILL 3 WEEKS AWAY FROM MY COMING BACK TO THE US AND I AM SCARED OF BEING STRANDED IN THE LONELIEST HIGHWAYS IN BAJA, MEXICO.

20200820FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

MOTORCYCLE HAS DOCUMENTED HISTORY OF INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER WHILE IN MOTION. REMOVED FUEL TANK AND FUEL PUMP TO DISCOVER INSIDE WELDS OF FUEL TANK HAD WELDING SLAG THAT HAD COME LOOSE AND CONTAMINATED THE TANK. THE FUEL FILTER, FUEL PUMP, AND FUEL PUMP HOUSING WERE ALL FOULED WITH THE SLAG WHICH CAUSES A CLOG IN THE FUEL FILTER. THIS LEADS TO FUEL STARVATION AND UNEXPECTED LOSS OF POWER. THIS CAN BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IF A MOTORCYCLE LOSES POWER ON THE HIGHWAY IF THAT POWER IS REQUIRED.

RIDING MOTORCYCLE ON INTERSTATE WHEN I EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER, BARELY ABLE TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. COULD GO NO MORE THAN 15 MILES AT A TIME FOR 130 MILES HOME. DEALER FINALLY DETERMINED FUEL TANK LINING COMING OFF CAUSING DEBRIS IN FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. HONDA STATES FUEL PUMP IS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL MID AUG BUT WOULD NOT ADMIT TO DEALER THAT THERE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE.
