Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2011 CBR250R is engine with 3 filings, followed by engine and engine cooling (2) and power train (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 1 investigation file overlapping the 2011 CBR250R. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. WHEN RIDING, IN ALL CONDITIONS, AND WITH A FREQUENCY OF 3 OR MORE TIMES PER WEEK, THE ENGINE WILL CUT OFF WHEN THE CLUTCH IS PULLED IN. THIS REQUIRES ME TO RESTART THE ENGINE WHILE DRIVING, MOST TIMES IT IS CONTROLLABLE HOWEVER IT IS ALARMING AS IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANY TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED MOSTLY AT SPEEDS IN THE RANGE OF 30-45 MPH.
