Within that volume, owners reported 0 crashes, 0 fires, 0 injuries, and 0 fatalities. No NCAP 5-star crash-test rating is available for this model year in the federal database.
Component-level analysis is where model-year complaints become actionable: the top complaint category for the 2005 CBR1000RR is steering: steering wheel/handle bar with 2 filings, followed by tires (1) and electrical system (1). Concentration in one or two component groups is the classic signature of a systemic defect; a flat distribution usually reflects normal aging, warranty complaints, or isolated build-plant variability.
NHTSA currently has 77 investigation files overlapping the 2005 CBR1000RR, and 9 remain open. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. HAVE REPLACED THREE STATORS ON THE VEHICLE PRIOR. THE FIRST TWO DONE BY MYSELF (AFTER MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY EXPIRED) THE THIRD DONE BY HONDA UNDER A "WARRANTY EXTENSION" AFTER THE FIRST TWO OCCURRENCES. DATES CAN BE PROVIDED IF NECESSARY. STATOR HAS ONCE AGAIN FAILED, BUT DEALERS DO NOT STOCK THESE PARTS SO THERE IS ONCE AGAIN A WAIT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS NOT FULLY OPERATIONAL. *TR

2005 HONDA GL1800 I HAVE HAD A FRONT STEERING WOBBLE SINCE NEW. THE FRONT TIRE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. IT MAY HAVE CORRECTED 50% BUT STILL HAVE A FRONT WOBBLE, ESPECIALLY AROUND 40 MPH. THE DEALER SAYS ITS JUST BUILT INTO THE BIKE. FRIENDS OF MINE HAVE INSTILLED TAPER ROLLER BEARINGS AND THAT FIXES THE PROBLEM. HONDA SAYS THEY DON'T HAVE A WOBBLE PROBLEM. JUST VISIT SOME GOLDWING WEB BOARDS AND YOU CAN SEE HOW BAD THE PROBLEM REALLY IS. *JB
THE FRONT TIRE ON MY 2005 HONDA GOLD WING HAS GONE BAD IN UNDER 4000 MILES, AND IS NOT USABLE AT 6000 MILES. HONDA WILL NOT WARRANTY TIRES, EVEN THOUGH IT IS FROM THE FRONT END WOBBLE. HONDA TELLS ME THAT I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE FRONT TIRE EVERY 6000 MILES, AND THEY WILL DO NOTHING TO ALLEVIATE THE WOBBLE THAT IS RUINING THE TIRE. MY VIN# IS [XXX]. THIS IS SUPPORTING ODI#10135765. PLEASE HELP. THANKS, [XXX]. *NM UPDATED 07/19/2012 *JS INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
