MY HUSBAND FELL ASLEEP AT APPROXIMATELY 3:00 AM AND HIT A GUARDRAIL. THE DRIVERSIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AND HE HIT THE STEERING WHEEL, SUSTAINED A BRUISED HEART AND NECK INJURY. WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL ER, TRANSFERRED TO ICU; HE IS OUT OF THE HOSPITAL NOW, BEING WATCHED CLOSELY FOR ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS. HAVE THERE BEEN OTHER ACCIDENTS WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL PICKUP WHERE THE AIRBAG DID NOT INFLATE? OR IS IT FAULTY EQUIPMENT ON JUST THIS VEHICLE?*AK

1. I HAD JUST LEFT THE HOUSE TO GO TO WORK. I PULLED OUT ON TO THE MAIN STREET WHERE A NORMAL AMOUNT OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WAS STAGED. ADDITIONALLY, ROAD WORK WAS BEING DONE, SO VEHICLE SPEED WAS VERY SLOW. I COASTED FORWARD ABOUT 10 FEET AND PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES. WHEN I DID NOTHING HAPPENED, IT DID NOT STOP. IN ADDITION, THE IDLE RACED SLAMMING ME INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. DAMAGE WAS DONE TO MY TRUCK BUMPER, BUT NOT TO THE VAN IN FRONT OF ME. ALSO, A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO I W
VEHICLE BRAKES FAILED TO OPERATE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER ON THE EDGE OF THE DRIVEWAY, DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND SLAM INTO A TREE. DRIVER RECEIVED BACK AND HEAD INJURIES. CAN NHTSA PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION OR PROVIDE SOME HELP IN THIS MATTER. *AK *YC
WHEN TRAVELING AND UPON MAKING A SUDDEN STOP ON WET PAVEMENT, THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD; BRAKES LOCKED UP, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SKID, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE, CAUSING TWO ACCIDENTS ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. WHEN TRUCK WAS INVOLVED IN AN INTERSECTIONAL CRASH, IMPACT SPEED ABOUT 35 MPH, THE AIR BAG ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DID NOT DEPLOY. THIS WAS A FRONTAL CRASH. DRIVER'S BACK AND STERNUM WERE BROKEN IN THE CRASH.*AK

THE HANDLE THAT ROLLS UP THE WINDOW BROKE OFF, CAUSING SERIOUS FINGER INJURIES. *AK
INVOLVED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION. VEHICLE (TRUCK) WAS HIT BY AN ONCOMING VEHICLE AT AN APPROXIMATE 45 DEGREE ANGLE APPROXIMATELY 2 FEET RIGHT OF CENTER OF THE TRUCK ON THE FRONT BUMPER. THE ONCOMING VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THE TRUCK WAS SKIDDING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. UPON IMPACT, THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL OF THE TRUCK WAS REVERSED - THE TRUCK BOUNCED BACK APPROXIMATELY 3 FEET - AS EVIDENCED BY THE SKID MARKS AND RESTING POSITION OF THE TRUCK. THE DRIVER- SIDE AIRBA
ABS FAILURE WHILE DRIVING 35-40 MPH. HARD BRAKE APPLIED AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND VEHICLE DROVE STRAIGHT AHEAD AND REARENDED VEHICLE AHEAD. AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY UPON IMPACT.
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ABOUT 40 MPH THERE WAS ANOTHER VEHICLE IN FRONT WHEN CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP VEHICLE BEFORE REAR ENDING THE OTHER VEHICLE. UPON APPLYING THE BRAKES ONE OF THE WHEELS ON THE FRONT OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE LOCKED UP. DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED. *AK
WAS IN A 20 MPH HEAD-ON COLLISION AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN. *AK
IN NOVEMBER OF 96 CONSUMER WAS DRIVING DURING ICY CONDITIONS. DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE, LOST CONTROL, WENT INTO A SPIN AND SLID OFF ROAD INTO A REVINE. PRIOR TO LOSING CONTROL, CONSUMER PRESSED THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR BUT DID NOT LOCK. ON FOUR OTHER OCCASIONS WHEN APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION AND BEGAN TO BRAKE, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE VEHICLE WENT PAST NORMAL STOPPING DISTANCE. *AK
WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE BRAKES SLIP, AND THE PEDAL GOES THE THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPNIG DISTANCE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO COLLIDE. THE DEALER HAS CHANGED THE FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS PRIOR TO THE COLLISION. DEALER HAS BEEN MADE AWARE OF THE ACCIDENT. *AK
