I PURCHASED A NEW BANKS ELECTRONIC SPEED BRAKE PN 55445 WITH SELECTOR SWITCH, FIRMWARE REV. 555431-05-02, SERIAL # SAA40615284 AND INSTALLED IT ON OUR GMC 2500 HD PICKUP PER SUPPLIED INSTRUCTIONS. SHORTLY AFTER INSTALLATION IT BEGAN CAUSING THE ALLISON 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION TO RANDOMLY GO INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WOULD HAVE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOP, PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE TO RESET THE PROBLEM AND RESUME DRIVING. THIS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE TOWING OUR 12,000 LB 5TH WHEEL RV. FORTUNATELY IT DID NOT OCCUR WHILE GOING DOWN A STEEP GRADE WHERE ENGINE BRAKING WAS REQUIRED TO CONTROL SPEED. IF IT HAD OCCURRED UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES, IT COULD HAVE BEEN A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. I REMOVED THE BANKS ELECTRONIC SPEED BRAKE FROM THE TRUCK AND THE PROBLEM NO LONGER OCCURRED. CLEARLY THIS PRODUCT CREATED A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
