TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1991 GM JIMMY. WHILE DRIVING IN A 35 MPH ZONE THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP AND REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE PASSENGER WAS INJURED AND TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THIS WAS THE SECOND CRASH. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE MILEAGE, DATE OF ACCIDENT, OR PURCHASE DATE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT WAS NOT AWARE OF RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 99V193000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17200.*AK
ICY CONDITIONS, USED BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN AND REAR END BEGAN TO SLIDE. HIT GUARDRAIL, WENT INTO DITCH AND ROLLED OVER. I CONTACTED GMC WHEN I HEARD OF RECALL AND WAS INFORMED DECISION WAS BEING APPEALED ON THIS VEHICLE. *AK

THE BRAKES FAILED COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING TO WORK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS LESS THAN 6 MONTHS OLD. I RECENTLY READ A COMSUMER REPORTS ARTICLE DATED NOV. 1997 THAT EXACTLY DESCRIBES THE BRAKE FAILURE THAT RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. THE FAILURE OCCURED SUDDENLY WOTH NO WARNING, HOWEVER THE NEXT DAY THE BRAKES CHECK OUT FINE. I SUSPECT THE PROBLEM IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ABS SYSTEM COMPUTER.

CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS AT 25 MPH, APPROACHING ON STOPPING VEHICLES WAITING FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT TO CHANGE, CONSUMER COMMENCED TO APPLY THE BRAKE PEDAL AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. HIT THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE . DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
ABS BRAKE PROBLEMS; WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES ON REGULAR ROAD CONDITIONS DURING NORMAL BRAKING, THE PEDAL WOULD TRAVEL ALMOST TO THE FLOORBROAD, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. ON MARCH 5, 1998, WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 10-15 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A REAR END CRASH WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION. *AK

BRAKES:DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45MPH ON INTERSTATE AND ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN, BUT COULD NOT GET THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO STOP. RAN INTO THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. CAUSE OF FAILURE IS UNKNOWN. *AK
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, AND VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 3 MILES PER HOUR. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN. *AK
COMING TO A STOP AND SMASHED THE BRAKE PEDAL INTO THE TRUCK AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK KEPT GOING AND HIT THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. *AK
