NHTSA currently has 2 investigation files overlapping the 1996 ENVOY. Owners comparing this cohort against neighboring years should pair the counters above with the complaint-by-year trend on the parent model page — a spike in a single year often tracks to a platform refresh, a new transmission supplier, or an updated ECU calibration. GMC ISSUED A RECALL ON THE 1996 GMC ENVOY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR CONSOLE WHICH OPERATES THE LOCKS AND WINDOWS WHICH CAN BURN OUT OR CAUSE FIRE. MY ENVOY DID THE SAME THING, SO OF COURSE I HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED. I CALLED GM AFTER IT HAPPENED AND WAS TOLD IT WAS AN "ISOLATED INCIDENT". I NEVER HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN UNTIL MY MECHANIC TOLD ME ABOUT THE RECALL. I CALLED AND THEY SAID MY VIN NUMBER WASN'T INCLUDED IN THEIR RECALL. I LIVE IN UPSTATE NY, I HAVE THE BURNT CONSOLE ( FOR PROOF OF THIS FAULTY PART (ALONG WITH THEIR FAULTY SPARE TIRE HOIST WHICH WAS ANOTHER $400 PLUS, WHICH IS ANOTHER EMAIL FOR YOU). ALL I KNOW IS I'M OUT $491.25 FOR THE CONSOLE. GET ME ON THIS RECALL LIST! *TR
HELLO, WE PURCHASED THE 2006 YUKON DENALI ENVOY WITH LOW MILEAGE BETWEEN 30,000 ' 45,000 MILES. WE DIDN'T EXPECT TO RUN INTO MAJOR ( THROTTLE BODY AND FUEL SENSOR'TANK EMBEDDED) PROBLEMS. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS LODGED ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THESE DTC ENGINE TROUBLE CODES (P2135, P0463). THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. ACCORDING TO GMC TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS IN CORRECTING THE PROBLEM, THE FIRST DEALER TOLD ME THEY MUST FOLLOW A DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLESHOOTING FLOW CHART TO RESOLUTION. THE FIRST GM/GMC DEALER STATED THE FIRST STAGE OF THE DIAGNOSTIC FLOWCHART SAYS THE THROTTLE BODY SHOULD BE CLEANED AND NOT REPLACED. THE REASON NOT INITIALLY REPLACED IS BECAUSE THE THROTTLE BODY IS A HIGH PRICED ITEM. WE THEN TOOK IT BACK TO THE 1ST DEALER AT WHICH THE DIAGNOSTICAL FLOWCHART WAS AGAIN USED. ACCORDING TO THE FLOWCHART THE NEXT COURSE OF ACTION CALLS FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE THROTTLE BODY. AGAIN IT WAS SHORT LIVED. IF THE FLOWCHART DIAGRAMS
