MY 2004 GMC CANYON CAUGHT FIRE YESTERDAY ABOUT 1:12 PM AND BURNED UP. THE FIRE DEPT. INDICATED A STRONG SMELL OF GAS. THIS EVENT HAPPENED ABOUT 20 MINUTES AFTER I ARRIVED HOME IN THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT BY THE EASTSIDE FIRE DEPT UNDER INCIIDENT NUMBER 17-1594. THEIR PHONE NUMBER IS 425-313-3200.

AROUND 2:00PM I WENT TO RUN ANOTHER ERRAND AND SMELT SOMETHING LIKE BURNING PLASTIC, I OPENED MY TRUCK TO FIND THAT MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WAS SMOLDERING. THE TRUCK WAS FULL OF SMOKE AND THERE IS NOW A HOLE IN THE SIDE OF MY DOOR FROM WHERE THE PLASTIC MELTED! I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS COULD HAVE HAPPENED, BUT THIS IS MY ONLY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTAT

THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE AND ADVISED THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM UNDER THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EXAMINED FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
CLIMATE CONTROL FAN ONLY WORKS IN POSITION 4. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID IT WAS A RESISTOR ON CIRCUIT BOARD. THEY SWAPPED IT OUT. LESS THAN SIX MONTHS LATER SAME THING. TOOK IT IN AND DIDN'T HAVE THEM REPLACE IT. THEY DID HOWEVER DISCONNECT CONNECTOR TO MOTOR, IT WAS BURNT AND SLIGHTLY MELTED. WHY ARE THEY NOT INVESTIGATING THIS. I ASSUME THAT THE CONDENSING CAMBER DOESN'T DRAIN PROPERLY, THUS IMPINGING ON SQUIRREL CAGE BLOWER, THUS HIGHER STARTER AMPS REQUIRED AND THAT IS HOW YOU OV
