TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1998 GMC C10753. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND ENGAGING THE BRAKE PEDAL THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED; HOWEVER, AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED SO THAT THE MECHANIC COULD DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND SEND A REPORT TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 98V226000, COMPONENT: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS INCLUDES THE IDENTICAL FAILURE THAT THE CONTACT HAS EXPERIENCED; HOWEVER, THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOR 4 YEARS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HIS BRAKES ARE ADJUSTED EVERY 4 MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE.
